Republicanism works best when there is rampant growth. Stagnation is only to be expected really.

Refreshing to hear that...though Huckabee has also echoed the same thing.

I think it just depends on factors like who's in power, the state of the economy, etc. It's like an old married couple arguing over who left the cap off the ketchup bottle, meanwhile the kitchen is on fire.
