Hello VJ members,

I don't usually post on here because I am very new to this forum thing. My fiance had his interview back on Feb 27th, and since then we have been in AP, reviewed for issuance, more AP, pending in cairo, no pending in DC...and the rest of the known limbo.

I e-mailed cairo 2 weeks ago and they finally replied saying:

Dear Sir:

The visa is about to be issued and mailed to you by the DHL.

Regards,

Consular staff

ni

Is this real and typical of cairo or something random to just comfort me?!

Thanks all!!

I don't think they write that unless it's true so I would just double check with DOS and start celebrating!!!! I know how hard it is to endure a long AP so congrats!

The consulates are not in the business to make you feel better, so I suspect you are about to get some great news!

Congratulations!

It definitely real because I received the same email from the Consulate prior to my husband getting his passport and visa. We received the email on Tuesday, July 29th and my husband received his passport on Saturday, August 2nd.

Congrats to you and your love. :)

Thank you so much bridget, morocco4ever, Shawna, Nagi, and JeanneVictoria for all the help and encouragement.

When I said I really can't trust anything the embassy in cairo says, I think I was very close to being right. I checked with DOS and they confirmed that the visa was issued on July 31, 2008, but then my fiance got a call on Thursday and his mom picked up and someone from the embassy staff told her to have my fiance send in his passport. The thing is they kept the passport since the day of the interview.

My fiance went to the embassy today to see what they wanted, but they refused to let him in. Right now I don't know what we should do. Is this normal? They have the passport since February, and we were told twice the visa was issued. Why are they requesting the passport if they already have it.

I am so confused and feeling very depressed after being so happy.

I think they might ve forgotten they have the passport!! wait n sooner or later they will realize they have it!! im so sorry u re going thru this insha Allah everything will be fine khalas ure at the last step  hang in there!

Sign up for DHL tracking online and see if they are delivering it. He should have the DHL receipt number to track it. If that dont work then call your local Congressman and they can contact them directly for you and advise them they have his passport etc.

Sorry you are going thru this! They did the same with my husband however, we both emailed them the same day. We included that they had his passport, also that DOS stated the issue date had passed so would they please tell us the DHL tracking number and when we could expect it to arrive. We emailed two days in a row each time there was no response. We were always polite stating our concern over the confusion. Once they started responding within 2 weeks we had his visa.

Good luck! I know they are frustrating but YAY your visa was issued! :D
