NOA2 16th DECEMBER!!!!!!!

Posted

Hey guys and girls!

I've booked my flight.. I'm leaving in 8 weeks... going from London to Boston on December 11th and returning on January 6th. So there's no going back now. I just have to gather evidence and go for it! I've been having dreams almost every night about either missing my plane or being denied entry. I'm just going to be really confident and blunt with the officer when answering questions so that he knows I have nothing to hide.. I can always point out that in my passport there are stamps for Christmas every year and I always go back to the UK on time.

I've been MIA for a couple of days as I've had stuff going on in my head. Bill might be getting a good job (good news!) but it means there's a chance I won't get to see him until next July (bad news!) because it's hard to get time off for him and I'll have the K1 in my passport so won't be able to use it.. :( I'm really happy for everyone in here who will be making their way to the US as soon as they have their visa, but reading about hopefully getting the NOA2 soon would have made me feel worse, seeing as I won't be going anywhere for a while. But I'm feeling a bit better today.

It's Friday Mara, let's hope Chris has the NOA1 waiting for him! By the time you get hold of it, you'll only be days/weeks away from NOA2. :P

Colin - I'm going to my GP in November and asking him to give me any of the shots that I don't have on the list. Hopefully he won't charge me as it is the NHS after all.. I wasn't aware we needed HEP shots though?

Welcome Thayani... you're always welcome to share your crappy feelings here while waiting for the visa.. there are some awesome people here.

Donna - Pics?

ooooh Gemmie have a bloody fantastic time, have a really lovely Christmas.

being apart sucks but make the most of your time together.

Good news bout your fiance getting a better job (i think) u seem a bit unsure bout it, im sure everything will work out for the best.

July will only be 6 months away once u get back in January i know it seems like a lifetime and u will feel sad being apart, but the things that get me through is that 6 months to wait for a lifetime of happiness. i know i whine a lot on here and ###### that the noa2s not here, but if i whinge on here then i dont take it out on others around me, get rid of frustrations with people that understand why i am frustrated, and then i can carry on with my day, everyday is 1 step closer to the day we can be together forever with the ones we love, 6 months compared to a lifetime, your visa journey will soon be over July will soon be here and u can begin to live.

Hang in there keep your chin up girl it will work out for you (F)

p.s if u think im a whiney cow, u r right i am

Lol Gemmie, Chris an I have this on going joke that we will see the NOA2 before the NOA1 arrives.... Don't you start going batty on us and not sleeping for the nightmares, im sure everything will work out ok :)

I hope that Bill gets the job, its hard over there atm and if he can progress in the job market thats brilliant. I know how terrible the holiday system is over there Chris had to go to hell and back to convince his boss to give him his holidays all together at xmas to visit me. He will be here from the 20th of December through to the 8th of Jan, not nearly long enough together but hopefully it wont be long till I follow him home at that point.

Gemmie have you looked at transfering your studies over to the US? Or is that simply not practical/worth it/etc? Thought I am sure graduating with your family able to see is probably a big thing they would enjoy before you flew over.

Donna, I want piccies too so come on share!

Is there a list somewhere of the specific shots you need for the trip over? I have recently discovered that I only have an immunisation record that dates back to 1996, so I have no proof of getting anything I had as a baby done, how do I go about fixing this before the medical? I have heard rumour that you can have blood tests done but I am hoping that I can save some cash by only needing to get proof for the ones I actually need lol.

I do seem a bit unsure about the new job, Bill has been looking for something stable for a few years now since he only made $8p/h at his old one and he worked there for 6 years. He luckily found a job in web design / IT tech which is what he loves to do, but it's still not enough hours, so now he's looking for anything. The interview was for Comcast (cable company) so although we're happy he finally got a call back, it's not a fantastic job and if it means we won't get to see each other for 7 months because of it, I'm selfishly not looking forward to it.

I know that what you say is true though Donna, 7 months is worth it to be together all the time. I'm just not used to it and am pretty convinced I will crash. Not a good time for me, as it'll be my final semester at university. Hopefully we can work something out where I get to see him for a little bit. I have thought about transferring studies over there but it's really not worth it, as I'd still have to pay my UK bills and hand assignments in person.

Thanks for the kind words girls, I really appreciate it. I didn't want you all thinking I was a whiny bi*ch for having to wait longer, even though I know I am. :P

Great news about Christmas, Mara!

You get a little refill before you do the final steps at the Consulate. :) Then you'll be with him very quickly. I'm not sure about the shot situation. But if you look at the Sydney? Consulate website, they should have a list of what is needed. If not, perhaps the USCIS website. I know that one of them will have it.

gemmie! i was just think that if i (we aug filers) havent had a shot of something we were meant to have when we were younger will they make us have it at the medical thats why i asked about HEP shots cause i dont think i had thme as a child!! the site only says i need MMR(done) and Tdap(done 2003) so i think im all good! as long as what i thought doesnt happen lol!

Only 26 days and i get to see my jess! and 40 days i go to usa and hopefully! get in!!! My work said they will write me a letter confirmng im returnig to full time employment!! ( does any know what they should say in the letter) i said they should not ay anything about the visa!! but is ther anything else apart from the dates they are giving me off and when i return to wok !!

Gemmie: I guess this would have probably been way better to say about two months ago, but considering how much extra time you are going to add onto your wait to finish college, maybe you should have gotten married first, and filed that way, the extra time those tend to take wouldn't make much difference in your case, you'd have a better overall visa/status when you make the move, as I understand it a lot more flexibility in when you make the move (I think two years from the visa being granted and it's multiple entry etc), that plus the AOS is not needed or less expensive. Is this just something you didn't think of at the time or considered but chose not to do?

I'm hoping for a fast early approval for all august filers... except gemmie... who needs a good 3 or 4 month delay in her processing... I mean if someone has to get stuck with some FBI 3 month long name check delay, might as well be the person who benefits :P...

Of course we realised, we had a year of engagment before we could apply so had lots of time to research options. :P

The reason we applied now rather than during 2009 was because we wanted to make sure we had the visa well in advance of finishing school. It has a 6 month expiration date and seeing as I'll be getting my visa any time from February-May (depending on delays and Consulate stages), I'll be able to hold onto it and use it within the time-frame. Even if the interview is in February, it's still valid.

So no 3 month delays, please.. we wouldn't benefit from that at all, it would just send us into even more stress.

The spousal visa... there is no way I would want to be seperated from my husband.. being seperated is hard enough when you're in a relationship or engaged. I would much rather make my move to the US and then set up a life *together*. Besides, I don't mind having to wait until I can work and whatnot, I want to take some time for adjusting. Learning to drive, getting used to the money, volenteering, learning to cook properly...

Married or engaged, in terms of your relationship I see little real difference if you are serious. I think having choices tends to make people happier, if you went the marriage route, you'd have the choice to work immediately *OR* focus on adjusting, as a fiancee you haven't got a choice, if adjusting takes you all of 10 days and then you are bored out of your mind... well, you can volunteer or something but you don't have a lot of choice as far as actually working. That and it's cheaper. I'm back to hoping august noa2's start popping off like crazy then... watching igor's list has been dissappointing this week, not nearly enough action!

Based on some of the approvals that have happened recently, it looks like about 4 months for csc filers to be finished... I knew going in it would likely be a 9 month process, being down to 4 months doesn't sound so bad (coming to a 6 month total which is decent turn around time all things considered). Of course, I'm paying more attention to CSC filers in the philippines, canadians and people who speak james bond english likely will be a little faster.

I can only hope us Aussies can pull off James Bond English then.....

My timeline went backwards today, approvals between 27th of Dec and 11th of Jan, woot! Finally it is heading in the right direction! I am still hopeful that I will have the NOA2 before Xmas....

Anyhow VSC has spat out a whole heap of approvals for the end of June this week, a more then positive sign that perhaps the election isnt slowing things down as much as people were predicting or thinking, always helpful.

I hope that your visa isnt delayed Gemmie, but then I also hope its not speed up, nothing would be worse then having it too early and not being about to get over there in the 6 months they maintain you must enter within.

Chris is heading into work tomorrow (yes it will be Saturday) but thanks to being pushed about all week this will be the first time he has stepped foot into his office since last Friday, here is hoping that the NOA1 is sitting with the "ton of mail" that is apparently waiting for him. I have made him promise that he will call me with the details (no matter what the time) if he finds it burried in his inbox. However knowing Chris he will put off calling me with the famous "I didn't want to wake you in the middle of the night Babe when I knew I would be talking to you when you got up"..... I am so not sleeping well tonight.
