Yeah Mara, Chris told me the other day he eats honey bread with salty things and i'm like, how can you eat sweet with salty, i dont like it at all lol :) i'm also asking him for products for cooking we have in bulgaria but they dont have them there...

when we all arrive and while we stay home adapting we can still talk to each other killing the time, but i assume we all will be very busy too, exploring the new place, at least for me like a "newbie" there B)

Mara, what happened with your hard copy?

I found that wholefoods though expensive was very good with the random out there things that other countries consider normal lol.

We still don't have a hardcopy, though Chris didnt go to work on thursday firday and that is where they are meant to be sending it so it may be sitting in the office. The hardcopy of the check is there too, he is going in tomorrow do some work so he is going to scan the check for me so i can try and decode the back of it (apparently it is pretty smuged :(), note why i was asking what to look for before lol.

If the hard copy isnt on his desk at work he is going to ask the mail attendant on Tuesday morning, failing it being there he is calling USCIS again and seeing what has happened.

Last guy he spoke too wouldn't give it to him, gonna make sure he asks this time around and pressures for it. He has the check and can't read the number, he can prove he is who on the phone so i don't understand why they wouldn't give it to him.

We know we are in the system, this is a positve start, and the only fact that i haven't gone insane not knowing where I stand.

We will find out on tuesday, if i cant work it out from the check lol.

I have made Chris as promise me that he will buy me a bread maker when i move there :) (through there is an itailan style bread (that is sold in the bread department) that is sugarless).

Hopefully the NOA1 is on his desk when he goes in tomorrow morning or i can read the back of the check that would be so much easier :D

Australian chocolate, they just dont do cadbury chocolate the same anywhere else in the world.

Vegemite, yes some think its disgusting but its really not that bad when you use it right.

Lamingtons, the best way to eat sponge cake, coat it in chocolate and roll it in coconut.

Meat pie with tomato sauce, the proper little aussie ones (yes the UK has them too :) )

Sugar-free bread!

I'm sure this list could go forever! But I cant think of any more at this hour lol.

For sweet and salty there is always planter's honey roasted nuts... they are both salty and sweet, and delicious, and just one example of something that is sweet and salty. I'm sure there are a lot more (margaritas, chef's chocolate salty balls, and probably more).

Still can't do the sweet and salty deal :P Just not yet, maybe given time.

Betogethersoon - there is no need for you to the K1 petition with you, they will have that on their system and its just more paper to carry. If they ask you about it the line "We have begun our petition and there is no way i want to wreak it by staying over my limit" may help you out in a pinch (has for other VJ'ers that I have read make the scarey journey across the american boarder) but they aren't going to use your petition as evidence you wont leave. As someone else meantioned before just try and skirt the subject, don't lie, but don't tell them if they don't ask.

Another tip, unless they specifically ask you who your visiting, stick with your in america for a holiday , it's not lieing - just avoiding the questions they ask when the words boyfriend/girlfriend or fiance come out of your mouth. I still remember having to play 4000 questions at the boarder in chicago once because the guy didn't like "i'm visiting my boyfriend".

Vegemite is a yeast like substance you spread on bread or toast like jam (jelly to those americans amoung us), its an aussie thing. The UK have stolen it and created cheap immatations such as marmite and promite, but its just not the same :P check out www.vegemite.com.au if you want a better answer.

Looks like Gemmie has abandoned us for the weekend, clever girl! If only I didn't just have weekends to talk to Chris I might have been able to do the same thing (though it is raining to thats a good deterant too.
