There is a post somewhere explaining it... but it's something like the first three letters WAC or EAC (you know this part already), then 08 for 2008, the number of days from the first of the year that your petition was recieved, so jan 1 is 001, jan 2 is 002... the next month would be 031 assuming 30 days in jan, then there are 5 more numbers, having something to do with the number of petitions recieved on that day. This is second hand from memory (and looking at my own noa1)

Hmm mine doesn't seem to follow that formula.. I have the EAC and the 08 for the year but everything else is just random numbers.

Sorry to hear your news Mara, children can be incredibly comforting at a time like this.. I really hope she pulls through okay with the support of others around her.

So your number isn't something like EAC-08-225-XXXXX? august filers should have something between about 200-235 according to what I had read (I'm being lazy and just basing the range off my own number there). The final 5 digits could really be a random number for all I know... let us know if you fall in the 200-235 range (or well, really close to it... if not then I guess what I read was wrong or I remembered it wrong).

Yeah Emilia has all that already, I think all she needs is a cenomar, that's it! as far as evidence of on going relationship I collect those on a month to month basis so I never fall behind. Well ofcourse she also still have our old 1990 Elementary School yearbook for additional evidence, hehe!

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

Mine is EAC-08-23**** --- hmmmm.... now I am curious.

Guys, I have a problem. When my fiance got the NOA1, they reflected my name incorrectly. So, he went ahead and called USCIS the next day and told them to get it corrected. NOw, after a month, I saw two touches in two consecutive days. My fiance got a letter in the mail stating the USCIS has corrected the typo in the database and reflecting my correct first name --- thing is, THEY OMMITTED MY MIDDLE INITIAL!!! It is so frustrating. Can't they ever get anything right? It insults me. i have a feeling that we might have morons workling on the petitions.

What are your advise?

Oops, turns out I might have misunderstood.

I have EAC-08-223-XXXXX but we filed on the 12th (NOA1 14th) so I don't know how that relates to the number.

HD, that does sound awfully frustrating! Personally I would call USCIS again to let them know as I wouldn't want to take any chances, even if it's just an initial. It's not like you're having to re-file.

I'm sure I read it somewhere on visajourney and swear I wouldn't betray this communities trust by reading other websites regarding visa's, journey's, or immigration... but this site details what I had read before.

http://www.***removed***/immigration/deciph...ipt-number.html

The first day of the year is Oct 1 according to that, so I'm immediately seeing an issue there with my own case number (the group of 3 numbers being 232 I think) is that it's no where near close to the 320ish number it should be according to the site... but is pretty close if the first day of the year is jan 1... all I can say is from jan 1 to august 1 is 213 days, I actually mailed it on the 20th and the NOA1 was dated the 27th... I'm pretty sure it took close to 5 days to show as being received using UPS's tracking so... it's not exactly what I'd expect it to be. I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong here with how I counted the months or something... but my NOA1 is the 27th, and harsh's NOA1 is 2 days later... my number is 232, and harsh's is 234....

Gemmie posted while I was checking the maths and everythong on my previous post... The days since the first of the year seems to match the date sent, instead of the date of the NOA1... day 232 is august 20th (the day I sent my package), day 234 is the day harsh sent their package... but gemmie is still off by a day so it's hard to say... but it seems based off the postmark and not the noa1.

Edit to add: I should have read the link I posted more carefully... weekends don't increase the number... so basically the oct 1 thing works... as a programmer it just seemed like it'd be awkward to skip weekends vs just counting the total number of days... but I guess only business days count

Hey Gemmie. I am very much to the point of screaming. My fiance said it must have just been a clerical ommission. I have two given names, you see. There is a Filipino forum that I am a member of and someone advised that it should be corrected at the USEM here in the Philippines as the details on my K1 visa interview will be based on the petition details that they have on the database at the USCIS. I have a feeling unless it has something to do with an incorrectly spelled name, then it shouldn't be that serious. I hate those dumbos! My fiance repeated it several times to that customer service lady and even had her spell it back to him and it should have been corrected. This is a legal document for goodness' sake!

This is going to bring me back to the ER. grrrrrrr

Hmm I think it roughly makes sense.

That would make ours August 11th which is only one day difference. (edit - actually yes, we DID send it on the 11th, they received it on the 12th)

I do wish my timeline would stop moving backwards though.

edit again - HD, How frustrating! Please don't go back to the hospital, we all love you being here instead. Take some deep breaths and try to relax, it's a minor problem that can be sorted either with the USCIS or the USEM. It will take no time at all. :)
