It's 50f here, that's shorts wearin weather for me... but a major storm for her...

They asked about world of warcraft as a result of how did we meet, which is the internet, and what are my hobbies (computer addict!). I think the CO probably is a big fan of WoW too which is why he asked about it. I was a little surprised, and my first thought was how the heck did they even know I played WoW (first thought's were conspiracy theory stuff like the government could somehow check with blizzard to see if I had an account there lol). Of course a simple answer was she answered his questions about my hobbies and well, let's face it, just about every computer nerd out there (at least the ones who play computer games) has played or still plays WoW (I managed to resist until last year so I was one of the last hold outs lol).

Beating fred to the US was of course my only really important goal this whole time... I know a few others managed to get visa's issued before me and my fiancee though we may be the first to actually make the POE.

Also for the PoE it was detroit, it wasn't too bad, we were directed to get in line in the visitors line together (I asked the crowd control lady who was a filipina). On the plane they gave us a VWP form instead of an I-94 so we had to step out of line, fill that in and go back (lines were short, and you go back to the front if you have to step out to do a form). It was apparently the officers first time doing a k-1 visa so he had to get a little bit of training on how to do things from the other offices, he was friendly, though and that's probably more important than anything for those making the trip solo.

The current plan is probably to head to eureka springs (arkansas) and have our wedding there this weekend, small family deal with my brother and his wife (this is actually where they married about 2 or 3 years ago which is how I know about it). Nothing fancy, it'll probably amount to... dinner and a movie. http://marriage.about.com/cs/marriagelicenses/p/arkansas.htm is the info about marriage licenses in arkansas, I don't think the requirements could get any lower than that really (the missouri requirements are similar but a 3 day waiting period). Really I think my brother is just itching for an excuse to head back to eureka springs...

Maliciant I am so happy for you homie! SHEESH! you got your wish! beating Fred! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well ofcourse you gonna beat me, you only have 1 in your petition HAHAHAHAHA!

Can you imagine in my case the medical took over 3+ days? it dragged on! wheewwwwwwwww!

But oh wellz, I'll try to catch up soon, I'll get there.

I think there's only one person in this thread who really knows my progress, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Godspeed to everyone still waiting for their approvals.

And smooth and successful process for those who already got their approvals.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

what is the next step? lol i was so preoccupied with the NOA2 i never checked what i was to do next !!!

Flowchart here

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=k1flow

For now you wait till your case os forwarded to NVC (National Visa Center) then forwarded to the Embassy In Manila.

Once you receive your letter from the American Embassy in Manila with a case number starting with a MNL you can go ahead and schedule your interview.

Maliciant and I scheduled the interview for our finacee's here in the U.S. It was quite easy. You have to purchase a PIN which cost $18 then you can speak to an operator who will then schedule your interview.

For the MEdical.

St Lukes Medical - You do not have to make an appointment, its first come first serve. Schedule at least 2 days for this process.

While you are waiting for your MNL case, start gathering documents, cenomar, NBI certs, Police clearance and so on.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

Congrats, Maliciant! And everyone else who has accomplished something new. :)

I've been studying and, otherwise, slowly gathering the documents required for either the interview, or just those that are good to have around. It's making my head explode, just the thought of it, because I just hate bureaucracy so much!

Medical is scheduled for March 2nd and before then, I need to produce my vaccination record. I hope I won't need any additional shots because I am overall against them and - what I don't have, I don't really want in the first place. (It's possible I actually have all that's on the list of requirements.)

As for other papers (various documents, certificates, whatevers), what all do you people have packed or are working on getting to take with you to the US?

The worst thing is - I've been working on all this as if I have that visa already, heh.

Thanks everyone... all things considered I have had a very smooth journey with a relatively fast time, thanks primarily to VJ for making that possible, seriously, without VJ it would have been far from smooth and I'd probably still be dealing with RFE's or other problems, I don't know how people do it without VJ (or similar sites). Part of the speed is due to the philippines, the embassy there is fast, for whatever reasons, I got the NOA2 fairly fast, but right about the expected time frame, but the biggest difference is if you are ready, and have all your docs, you can just zip right through things in the philippines (barring problems like TB or financial issues).

I've heard the AOS stuff is actually somewhat nightmarish compared to the k-1 portion of things, I'll have to do some more studying on that, I know we'll need some kind of certificate stating we got married and it's often recommended to get it from whoever marries you and take it directly to the county clerk to register it so you have it right away for the AOS paperwork, but since it'll be in a different state I'll likely have to wait a week or two to receive it in the mail... so the AOS filing will have to wait a little.

Also... yikes... I did some serious cleaning before I went to the phils but... she's cleaning right now... and organizing... I might not recognize the apartment when I get home from work...

For the SSN, you can get an SSN for your fiance without too many problems, you have to wait about two weeks for them to be in the system before you can get one, and you should definitely apply for the SSN as early as possible, if you wait until you are close to the expiration date of the I-94 (3 months from entry) then you could have serious problems, especially in a state where SSN is required before marriage, I'm not sure what happens if you wait until it's too late (I think about 14-18 days before the i-94 expires is considered too late and they'll refuse to issue the SSN), but I guess marriage in a state that allows non-residents to marry and otherwise has low requirements (say... getting married by an elvis impersonator in vegas is usually quick) so that you'd be able to do AOS... but well... so much better to avoid that all together. The SSN is easy to get so long as you don't wait too long.

I am slowly disposing of my clothes here. I don't think I need so much when I go to KY. But I would bring my school credentials, my daughter's papers, the stuff that fiance gave me, my makeup kit (I'll need it for my cosmetology career), pictures of the family, IDs, etc.

I wasn't talking about clothes and the like, but actually referring to documents and other papers. It seems nothing can be enough so I guess I'll have to do some cleansing and then see what all I actually: a) need for sure; B) might need; c) would like to have lying around; d) really should leave with my parents in Croatia.

As for the clothes, everything I own will likely fit in just a couple suitcases. Maybe three. CDs/DVDs and my books is what I'd like to keep, as well as some photos. But about those.. I'll be thinking at a later date.

I need the visa issued first, anyway. =P
