Hyena: I think seeing an international counselor sounds like a great idea. Joined the facebook group yesterday! :)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Be sure to post all your mushy stories here!

This is a lot easier for you to say since you are just about done in your process, HOWEVER still many in here that are painfully waiting news of their NOA2 or AP.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

I'm an August filer too, and Congrats to all those who got their NOA2.

I have a question... - I got my packet 3, and it says I should gather the info and schedule the medical exam, but should I mail the packet 3 away first so I can schedule the medical so its close to the interview date? or just go ahead and schedule it and mail away the packet now ? My NVC is Montreal, so they said it will take approx 4-6 MONTHS for an interview date.. what should I do? anyone who has been through this part who can offer guidance?

After the NOA2, different embassies have different procedures. Your question would be better posted in a Canada-specific forum for you to get the best advice. Please don't be snarky to people like SoInLove16 who are only trying to help you- we try to keep things positive around here.

Sorry for the little mess I've made!

SoInLove16: As commercial as it may be, Valentine's Day is about love- in distance or not. I figured lots of people in here would be sending cute things to their SOs or having cute webcam dates or something- and we all like to have our hearts warmed with cute stories, especially in times of distress. Believe me, our Valentine's Day sucked, approval or not. I had 2 root canals done last week and now have a severe gum infection, which means I couldn't even talk to Seb today. :( We're holding off on gifts for now, international shipping just isn't in the budget. I just wanted to hear what cute things you all did for each other- sorry if I came off as insensitive, that certainly wasn't my intention!

Amazon: I really didn't mean to scare you away...geez- looks like I've miscommunicated with a lot of August filers today. I just meant to point out that SoInLove16 really DID answer your question in the best way he, and most of us who aren't filing through an embassy in Canada, can.

Thanks for sticking your neck out for us depressed souls Fred.

I'm trying Dani, really hard :) and I hope your trying too, looks like our shopping plans will be well deserved when we finally get there *hugs*

This week is a new week, hopefully that means Chris can call around and get some news, the wheels were set in motion over a week ago now and Chris has been out of office sick since last Tuesday so who knows maybe something has happened at DISCO or USCIS..... maybe....

My valentines day story.... Chris sent me an email, he was in transet at the airport (going to spend the weekend in Florida with a mate before his Brother-in-law moves in this fortnight) and that's about it. But then Chris and I both think Valentines day is just another Hallmark holiday...Maybe next year (our first one together) we might make a bigger deal out of.

Other then that I grabbed a Girlfriend who is at the start of traversing the same road I am currently on and we went out for a nice romatic mexian meal lol.

Congrats to all who have gotten their NOA2's, Interview's and Visa's, I really wish I was in your shoes...

Thank you to those keeping Dani and I in their prayers, I know I really apprieciate it :)

When anyone in a long distance relationship I know is having problems I tell them to just sit and think what would your life be without them. If they just vanished and you never heard from them again, how would you feel and how would it be. Sounds simple because it is, just stop and think. Often as people we make things so complex and look past the simple. Take a few steps back and simply think about life. Really, really think about what simple things make you happy, the free things, because it is those things that matter when all around us changes. :star:

That was a really nice post Caminic and so very true. I think sometimes we get so caught up in trying to get to be with the one we love, these things get pushed to the back of our minds.

Thanks for the reality check :D

Hey guys and girls.. we didn't do anything for Valentines Day but it doesn't bother me too much. I'm not just saying it, I really do see it as one of those holidays that celebrates romance that isn't even romance because it's a national thing! I much prefer doing things in our own time, that's much more romantic.

Having said that, I did get an e-card from Bill and I responded with one of my own about missing him. It has a cute little insect who is happy when the moon comes out, and says "With you, I am a glowworm"; the clouds come over and the moon disappears, then the bug cries and says "Without you, I am just a bug. Miss you so much." How adorable!

Bill might be coming over next week to England.. I've never needed him so much in our 5-6 year friendship/relationship, I'm finding everything really difficult what with the distance and also the pressures from everyone else around me and the visa process. I have my family angry and not wanting me to leave, my friends upset and not wanting me to leave, plus my own feelings about what I'm experiencing. I feel that the job-hunt is hopeless after over 2 years of looking. He won't be staying as long as usual because he still needs to go back and find that job, but at the moment, being together is the important thing. I just need a long cry in his arms, and to have him here as I go through some stuff.

I hope V-Day wasn't too painful for you all. Some of you have almost finished the process, others are still waiting on news.. I really hope you find it in yourselves to stay strong and keep the end in sight. :)

You have probably already crawled through http://www.consular.canada.usembassy.gov/montreal.asp for infromation, but it really does vary by embassy.

I also understand the forums here dont always tell you what you need to know for your specific situation. So it doesnt hurt to ask, considering there are several Canadian filers here, maybe someone would have an anwer.

Just my opinion. I would send packet 3 ASAP. If you are concerned it will really take 4-6 months to get interview, wait a little or call now to schedule medical, just ask for appointment in a couple of months. I would be supprised if if really is 4-6 months, but note, your application approval is only good for 4 months. they can extend it, but you have to request. The part I dont know is if you need to ask them to extend if they havent given you an interview yet or if they have and you didnt take the interview yet.

I sent packet 3, scheduled medical a couple weeks out, and scheduled the interview all about the same time. Ultimately, the cancelled the interview and I am waiting. but medical is done.

Really guys? I didnt realize this was such a closed club. I know there is a lot of stress here, especially for those without NOA2, and even for some with NOA2. but really . . . when did this group stop being open to others or even somewhat tolerant?

Like your relationships, there is no substitute for face to face communication. It is easy to misunderstand a comment or take something someone wrote in the wrong way when you are not there to see their body language. Was responding "that doesnt really answer my questions" so offensive - -really?
