Coping up and down... one minute I'm focused on what is here and the next I'm focused on wanting to be back with him. I know that it will get better as time goes on though. 9 weeks until I attempt POE!!

Gemmie what are you going to do if you get approved in Jan or Feb? You wont be able to cross again till you finish school? Are you moulding him in prep for his turn to cross the ocean every couple of months?

He'll hopefully be coming here in March and then that will be it until I can go over with visa in hand (middle of July).

Hey Mara! Our timezones are closer to each other. I missed all the action while I was taking care of some papers. Me is coping as best as I could. no success though.

And oh, by the way, my honey is coming over for two weeks too for the holidays here in my country!!! He is arriving 12-20-2008. Me is sooo excited.

HAHA no way!!! Chris arrives here on the 21st, really stupidly early in the morning! I have a fun filled family Xmas to inflict on him (this will actually be the first time he mets my parents in the flesh), awe I feel sorry for him already lol.

What have you got planned? I am lucky enough to have him here for Xmas, New years and his birthday before he flies out on the 8th of Jan Best Xmas present a girl could hope for!

Thanks. Having to wait an extra 6 or 7 months is a horrible thought but I can't just quit school while in my final year. I've come too far. Even the thought of having to say goodbye at the airport two more times... ugh.

I bet you guys are so excited about seeing your loves!! Not long after that, you'll all be back together again!

We will go island hopping with my family!!! And we will also have an engagement party - taking advantage of the fact that everyone is coming home for the holidays. Hehehehe... Yes, I feel sorry for him too. But, I know my family will adore him before too long.

Will post the pictures. Add a petition approval to that mix and our holidays will be the most amazing so far!

You mentioning the NOA2, does anyone else have problems explaining the process to others?

It's sooo much more complicated than people realise so I usually try to cut it at "We get the first reply, wait about 4-5 months to get the next reply and then that takes a couple months to get the actual visa."

Haha, We had a power outage here a couple of weeks ago, so my mum asked me what the visa process that i was going through was like, how long it would take, what it would cost, etc. So in the loving light of the flash light i sat her down and explained the whole process for getting into the country and the little bits and pieces i have learn so far about what happens once you actually cross the boarder.

It took about an hour to explain which finally ended with her comment "i am so glad that its you and not me".

For my mates i work with "its in the system, should take them 4 months or so to process, then i get more paper work, a medical and interview. Then hopefully a visa and the secret sealed envelope". The envelope bit always cracks them up.

I tried telling my dad the basics and he's continued to ask me IF I'm moving to the US every time the subject comes up.

Even though we've been engaged for over a year and he's known about our plans, he said again this weekend "well you don't know what you're going to be doing after graduation, do you?" I mentioned the US move (for literally the 20th time or more) and he didn't say anything. He either forgets, or hopes that I've changed my mind and I'm not moving afterall. He's not taking the thing too well... he's said in the past that it will feel like I'm dead (??!) which doesn't make leaving any easier, huh?

Lovely and supportive! Hook him up with skype and train him on it, then you can have face to face video calla ever day for the first month, or year, or forever and that way he can still feel like he's part of your life.

He will come around pretty quick when he realises that he now has a free international holiday home.... Least that's what my parents seem to think our house is going to be lol.

Explaining it would be two phases for me. First is the petition approval, and the next would be the K1 visa. Helps my friends in the confusion.

Yeah, if my fiancee had access to playing WoW and played it... I'd be there with her, it's a whole different deal than me playing alone... of course, it's still useful in my case for passing the time, but I'm finding plenty of more useful things to keep me busy for now... one of those many things I do is getting a nap after work so when she's online, I'm awake (yeah, stupid 13 hour time zone difference... which will become 14 when DST kicks in).

HappyDancer: I'm always reading the boards... I just probably had nothing to add...

Gemmie: My advice for explaining the visa process to someone who isn't invested in it like those of us here is skip anything you would normally abbreviate, NOA1, NOA2, NVC, USEM, CSC, VSC,K-1, K-2, K-3, PoE, USC, etc when using any abbreviation expect someone's eye's to glaze over, if you want to explain a remotely complicated process to someone who is only vaguely interested, gross generalizations and glossing over the details works best... the total time you expect things to take... and then if you are ambitious go into great deal by saying about 5 months sitting in a box in the US, then they check the paperwork and verify some of the information about the US citizen... then they ship it overseas where a similar process occurs for the foreigner... and if they ask a more specific question... give them a more specific answer. Most people aren't going to devote the time to learn all the jive talk and abbreviations we use and the actual time it takes to complete is really the big piece of information. I'd even go so far as to say that most people probably do not know the difference between a visa and a passport.
