Just got back from a trip to Toronto tonight (for work), and went on Igor's list to see who'd been approved. Noticed Harsh -- Also from NJ -- got their approval today so went onto the USCIS website and we got ours too! YAYYYYYY!

Now the tedious work of filling out all those forms begins! One thing i"m a little annoyed at myself at is that I didn't make a copy of the package I sent to the VSC. Hopefully this won't be too big a deal.... Not sure if I should try to pull all my stuff together again -- but won't they actually have that at the embassy for the interview?

Our Timeline

If I remember correctly, you posted something a while back about scheduling (difficult) flights. I'm at a loss. I need to schedule the front end of mine, wait for the visa, and then the return along with his arrival. I'm assuming you are doing something similar. how did you go about that? I was hoping to use my frequent fliers, but alas, of course they are black outed at least one day no matter how I swing it... grr....

What I did was scheduled my flight and return, and then scheduled her return on the same flight, it's 11 days after her interview so it's a gamble if she'll have it by then, but I'm hoping it works out fine. If it doesn't, I'll pay some kind of penalty for rescheduling her flight and unfortunately won't be able to accompany her on the way here. I used a person to book the flight, his email is a-cward@hotels.com and I assume since he get's some kind of commission he doesn't mind me telling you to email him and let him know what you want to accomplish and where to (it doesn't hurt to tell him Dan from Smith Montgomery sent ya). He'll go through ordering the tickets, the pricers were pretty much the same as orbitz, it ended up being a little cheaper by a few dollars, got the tickets I needed, reserved seats when possible, all that jive. One thing he was pushing is the flight insurance, kind of as a cure all way to change your flight once like it's a no questions asked thing... the airline stated to me if you use it you will need documentation and they'd likely investigate etc so it's really only for medical reasons... not that it's available on those one way flights from foreign countries anyway. For places like orbitz I don't think you could book a flight from outside of the US as the departure, which he could do apparently because it's more direct. There is a good chance if you purchase the ticket for your fiancee in her country it's cheaper than purchasing it from the US, I don't know really, I figure if you want to gaurentee getting the same flights you kind of have to book it when you book your own.

Congratulations! How long between Packet 3 and Packet 4 for you?

Just got back from a trip to Toronto tonight (for work), and went on Igor's list to see who'd been approved. Noticed Harsh -- Also from NJ -- got their approval today so went onto the USCIS website and we got ours too! YAYYYYYY!

Now the tedious work of filling out all those forms begins! One thing i"m a little annoyed at myself at is that I didn't make a copy of the package I sent to the VSC. Hopefully this won't be too big a deal.... Not sure if I should try to pull all my stuff together again -- but won't they actually have that at the embassy for the interview?

Congratulations on your approval. I dont think you really need EVERYTHING from the original submission, but it is easier to fill out the additional forms if you have everything handy. It is also good reference. You certaily need the originals of some of the documents for the interview.

Chuck and Grace: I am pretty sure that the philippines does not do a packet 3!!! In your case you might have something like that due to going through the japanese embassy but I'm not 100% sure there.
