I am either really... mentally challenged, or all of this makes no sense to me.

In order to complete the search form, one needs to enter some information into some of those fields. WHAT are those things one enters?

All I have is our WAC number, or whatever it was, that our case was assigned the day USCIS got it. NVC then provided another number, that starts with a ZGB2008******. Is the latter used to track the package? If not, what exactly is? Because typing in just some random date does not accomplish the task at all....

Badgerella:

I go to the link below.......

http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/eshipping.../sref.high.html

Then in the reference number, you have to put EXP 2 JAN 2009A................then change the search dates beginning two days before...then leave the other date the current date. Everyday you can change the date and check after the pick-ups leave the building for the day.......sometimes things that are dated for the day before don't show up until the next day, so you have to play with the dates a bit. (Make sure to put spaces between everything as above and put that "A" after the year)

A list of packages will come up showing all the different countries they are going to.......just try putting in EXP 30 DEC 2008A....with dates between 29 DEC 2008 and 31 DEC 2008......you should see packages that were shipped to many places like Mexico, UK, Ukraine, Thailand, Manila, etc. Then if you scroll down it breaks them down individually and shows you where the package is currently located or if it has made it to the final destination.

The thing is....if you see one to your embassy, you can't be sure that it is yours....since many cases may be going there, but atleast it gives you a reason to call and check......

Hope this helps. :star:

I believe the ZGB # is your case# at U.S Embassy in Zagreb. I don't know how interviews are scheduled where you live, but here in Brazil with the number provided by NVC, we can call the Embassy and find out when the interview is going to happen in advance.

you know your waiting on somthing when you wish friday was monday

Hahaha... yeah... me too... I'm hoping to find out an interview date monday, well, late sunday but monday in manila (I may be dissappointed but sometime next week I'll get a date set I think).

The NVC case numbers have different codes based on where they are going, for the philippines it's MNL (Manila Embassy), and apparently ZGB for the Zagreb embassy.

Tracking things from NVC is kind of weird, the way it's done you have to know what date your package was actually sent. You can find this information by calling NVC and giving them your case number and asking. Then you can use track by reference on DHL and put in something like EXP 30 DEC 2008A (this will show results, so if you just put this in you'll see what you should see). The thing is you have to put in a dated based on when your package was sent, for some reason it's the day before your package is sent... so if they tell you your package was sent on DEC 23, you'd use EXP 22 DEC 2008A and look for your embassy to be listed in there. I don't know why it's so goofy but it is. Once you find the shipment to your embassy you can click it to see more detailed information (just where the shipment is at and where it's been, there is no information directly related to your petition).

This is a very weird system of doing things, but it's the way it's done.

I found this info in another thread.....but it comes from the US State Department Glossary of Terms:

Case Number: The National Visa Center (NVC) gives each immigrant petition a case number. This number has three letters followed by ten digits (numbers). The three letters are an abbreviation for the overseas embassy or consulate that will process the immigrant visa case (for example, GUZ for Guangzhou, CDJ for Ciudad Juarez).

The digits tell us exactly when NVC created the case. For example a case with the number MNL2001747003 would be a case assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Manila. 2001 is the year in which NVC received the case from the USCIS (formerly INS). The Julian date is 747 plus 500, so this case was created on September 4, 2001, the 247th day of the year. The 003 shows that it was the third case created for Manila on that day. This case number is not the same as the USCIS receipt number, which is written on the Notice of Action, Form I-797, from the USCIS. A consular section abroad cannot find a case if all you have is the USCIS receipt number.

The only thing is that when it says the Julian date....I think for this case it should say that 747 is the Julian date of 247 + 500 which equals 747........Julian date is the ordinal number of the day of the year.....ex....Dec. 31 is the 365th day of the year.

I think I'll give up. No matter what I type, I either get a blank page (DHL frames with nothing between them) or it tells me nicely that my search didn't provide any results.

Do you know what date your petition was forwarded to the embassy Badgerella? If you tell me that I'll give you at least the status if I can find it... and maybe a direct link to the results (they use javascript which is a pain but I can prob figure it out).

ETA: In the end you should get a letter stating the embassy got it and how to schedule an interview... I don't know the details for your country but you should get some indication of what to do next, it's not really necessarily to watch the NVC shipping stuff, in some cases it might lead to a slightly earlier interview date but we're talking days most likely for most situations. Best bet is to do some searching for information specific to your embassy on how to schedule the interview and what's required. The philippines for example doesn't send a packet 3, or 4, all that gets sent out is a notice saying that someone is documentarily qualified to schedule an interview, the rest is handled by going online and printing forms it seems...

Well......with my limited knowledge......I see four basic ways to become aware of your case making it past this step.....

1)Randomly call/email the NVC and inquire about your case

2)Check DHL and then if you see a package heading your way....call NVC and inquire about your case to see if it was possibly yours

3)Randomly call your emabassy and see if they have received your case

4)Wait for a letter in the mail from either NVC or Embassy saying that your case has reached the embassy

Any way it goes.......patience, patience, patience.....and out of our control.......no quick fixes.......just procedure.

We will all make it through eventually. Good thing we all have eachother for info and support.

Chox and Maliciant,

I will bet $5 that those 3 packages sent to the USEM PH on 29 Dec 2008 are Maliciant's, Chox's, and Marian and I. I tracked it by ref using EXP 29 DEC 2008A. Unless you can find anyone else who was approved from the PH around our date. I bet we all 3 get interviews easily come Jan 5. They should really start emailing the packets out now, instead of using snail mail. While you dont need the actual letter from the USEM to do the medical it still would be nice to have.

Chox,

Marian is going for her medical on Jan 12 and 13. She will be staying at a hotel down there near SLEC. So if you decide around that time. You can let her know. Maybe you two can meet.

Actually my petition went out on the 31's so it'd be listed on EXP 30 DEC 2008A, which I see shows 3 packages... weigh 75lbs (#######? really? how much paperwork did they add or did someone include a HUGE amount of chat logs with their petition lol). I saw that for the day before there were 2 packages sent, at 30lbs. The package I think mine is in has made it to manila, for some reason the first package has not yet, seems odd. I'm going to try to get an interview date setup jan 5th but I don't necessarily expect to get one that day, I think once they receive the file they have to enter it into their system (for some reason people always say encode it into their system), so until they do that it might not be possible to schedule the interview, I'm not really certain, but I will be calling (They open about 6 or 6:30 pm sunday my time...). I'm a little uncertain about the whole $18 pin deal when you call, I wonder if you get dinged $6 for calling and not actually getting to talk to anyone or whatever (ie calling too soon or they are super busy and don't pick up or whatever).

Shouldn't fred be touching down some time soon? I don't think we got an exact itinerary or anything for him... but if he's a responsible fella he'll get to a cafe and let us know how nice the weather is there! I'm itching to book my own flight and I know it'll be soon... I'm so 'restless' at this point, I want to rush to stand in line... but I have to sit still patiently at least until sunday night... probably a few days later. Waiting still sucks.

I called and got a PIN# yesterday, and it was pretty simple. You can use a debit or credit card to purchase it and they give you a 10 digit PIN#. After that it will give you and option to go into the service or repeat your PIN#. I would suggest you not take the option to repeat your PIN, because I did that and it I never recovered,I had to call back in. the actual pay of the call does not happen until you actually get into the service itself. So my PIN is still valid for 2 times.
