I live across the street from a pizza buffet... I don't eat their often but they do have really awesome cinnamin rolls... also I was noticing that there are about 8 of us reading this thread right now... must be lunch hour forum readers!

the sponser is either going to be one of 2 people both are american citizens by birth. the one lives in kuwait he owns an oil company or somthing there. if for some reason he cannot do it because of lliving there then the guy is going to get his brother to do it he lives in indiana.

hopfully he gets it right so theres no problem on anything but i think ill be nervouse till we get the approval :blink::wacko::huh::hehe::(<_<:jest:

Guys, I have been hearing about issues getting the SSN for K1. Hope it's not that bad in KY. :(

I-130 for Parents (Mom and Dad)

3.15.2014: Mailed I-130 Packet for Mom and Dad

3.21.2014: Received email notification with case # for both petitions; case forwarded to NBC for processing

3.21.2014: Check cashed

3.22.2014: Hard copy NOA1 received

4.08.2014: Both I-130 approved (notification received via email) - It only took three weeks!!!

4.11.2014: Received NOA2 approval notice in the mail.

5.01.2014: Called NVC to ask for status of paperwork. Advised they received both application on 4.28. Advised to call in 30 business days for an update.

6.02.2014: Email notification received from NVC that shows parents' NVC case number and instructions to pay AOS Fee and fill out DS 261.

6.03.2014: Paid AOS fee ($88 for both petitions)

N400:
4.26.2013: Mailed N400 Packet

5.21.2013: Biometrics

7.18.2013: Testing and Interview

9.25.2013: Oath Ceremony

Most the problems I've heard of with SSN were the result of people not getting married right away, and instead waiting until closer to the k-1 limit. They won't let you file for SSN if you don't have enough time to complete it before going out of status, if you don't get it filed for by your second month in the country... you'll probably have to wait until AOS, I don't know why that rule exists, it makes no sense.

I am hoping to file for an SSN after the wedding so that it'll be issued with her married name, instead of having to go back and get it changed, it seems like this is the simplest way to do it, but it seems people tend to get the SSN, get married, then change the SSN name (and it's what the guides here say to do), anyone know why that is, doesn't seem like the SSN matters much until you can work in the first place (I know it's needed for opening a bank account or a few other things... but it seems like those things are all kind of dependant on having an income in the first place)...

I have seen people who filed for SSN before and after getting married... Seems like the people at SSA are not informed. It's a shame.

i think it depennds on which office you deal with. if you can try to avoid broadway. i have a friend that was on a b2 visa and when he went there they denied him but he went too indiana and got it easy

The only issues for SSN is if you file too early. Give it 2 to 3 weeks from arriving before applying for an SSN. Gives time for immigration to inform SSA and get you into the system.

My fiance already has a SSN because he works in the US every year on an H2B, but I have heard that having one already can slow the processing of the K1. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? I hope it's just an urban legend... :unsure:

April 18, 2009-Wedding!!!

May 26, 2009-Filed for AOS w/ EAD & AP

June 2, 2009-NOA

June 26, 2009-Transferred to CSC

July 10, 2009-Biometrics taken

July 15, 2009-AP Received (approved July 9)

July 20, 2009-EAD Card received (approved July 8)

Aug. 10, 2009-Green Card Received!

theres some good and some bad there.. is that the office that your closer to? i know im like 2 miles closer to frankfort. i love that one cause i go in and get seen right away. the one out shelbyville road is good to.

theres no reason it should. i wouldnt worry about it only thing that would slow it is if hes overstayed any but if not then it may help well it shows that hes going to follow thier rules ect

Wow we must have been quiet yesterday, we dropped to page two. I think it must be the quiet before the storm. I really think there is a possibility that an Aug. filer could be approved in the next week. Lots of mid-late July filers are being approved. Maybe it is still wishful thinking, but hoping for a xmas noa2.

Really 4 months have gone by pretty fast looking back on them, but I am ready to see my man again!!!!
