Donna we missed you! I have been on the weak side lately too. I am sad and lazy and just not in the mood to move at all. This whole K1 wait is driving me insane. It will get better when my fiance gets here for the holidays. Thing is, I honestly don't know how to manage seeing him leave after New Year's Day...

Any advise?

I understand, Donna.

I think VJ hurts me at times too, but find it hard to stay away as it sometimes offers support too.

I've just read a thread where a girl came over on a student visa, met someone.. she is now planning on going back to her home country and re-entering, telling the border she's just there to study and will leave after... and then applying for AOS. She's using her friend who illegally adjusted status to justify it, too.

It really gets me down when I read about people abusing the laws and making it harder for people like us. I'm not just talking about the seperation and K1/K3 process, I mean whenever we want to visit the US, being made to feel like criminals.. heaps of questions and suspicion, because of others' abusing the system. I'm going to the US next week and I don't see why I should be so afraid of being denied the priviledge of spending Christmas with my fiance just because of people like that. We just want to do the right thing, file for the correct paperwork, obey the laws, and spend some time together. So fed up with this..

Donna, it must be hard not getting to see him over Christmas. But hold onto January, and hold onto that NOA2. This will all be a distant memory soon..

its been like five months since chris left, it was hard for us too, the only one thing that kept us strong was the fact we'll be together for the holidays, well now we wont see each other soon and i'm only thinking for january when i eventually leave, so think that after he leaves you'll follow him short after, ok :) a bit friendly hug for you to feel better...

Gemmie, we were talking the other day with chris, how stupid is this whole thing, if you apply for a business visa it takes 1-2 weeks and when we want to be with our partners, and for those with K3 visa who want to be with their families we have to wait for months, years, just bcos of those people who dont obey the laws, it is not fair at all, they only have few checks to make and it takes few weeks, a month, but not MONTHS, i hope next president of usa will change this whole situation...

I know, it's horrible.. I truly hate the visa process. It only takes about a month to move to the UK with the visa in hand! There is no waiting 4-5 months for someone to look at your petition so that you can be granted with the right to apply.. sometimes I question whether we should cancel the K1 and do it the other way around. But I would have to show that I can support us both with a place to live and a stable job, which is hard for me at the moment...

You mention business visas taking 1-2 weeks. I wonder if they're at risk of staying also (for employment) yet I never hear about proving that you will leave afterwards or denials...

Someone got approved today from 31 July :) we are almost in august :) and they were approved for 125 days which is the estimated time for most of the approvals :) so few days more CSC fillers :) hold on

I saw this and was all eager to post it here, and drat, beat me to it, this petition was sent so close to august if the NOA2 date had been august it'd have counted in my book (sent the 29th, noa1 the 31).... either way in my book this is THE closest thing to an august filer to be approved yet, and hey, it don't hurt my feelings that it happened at CSC.

Can't blame anyone for obsessing about the visa process... I think it's safe to say almost everyone at VJ is or has at some point.

As I understand it, someone on a business visa can adjust status if they marry here easily, ditto for student visas, the hard part about the business visas is probably finding someone to apply for one for you (I've wondered since it's so easy to setup a small business, I wonder if people could use that as a means to get their SO here faster).

for bulgarians it was possible before to apply for work in usa company and for them to take you there with a business visa, now i dont think the companies do that anymore, world is just too commercial and those who got engaged or married for us citizens will be considered as absolute emigrants....i wonder if uscis separate the fillers by country, cause some countries have better relations with usa and their citizens should be approved easier, maybe like canada and uk? any idea?

VSC kicking out August filers has me all pumped up, the last one was from 8/08, I am 8/29... you think there is ANY chance of me getting my NO2 before the new year, or do you think it will come to a crawl in the next couple of weeks because of the holidays coming?

NOA1: August 29, 2008

NOA2: January 26, 2009,

NVC RECIEVED: January 28, 2009

NVC SENT: February 3, 2009

Harsh: The bad news is those are not August filers, they just received their NOA1 in august, they sent their application in a full month ahead of yours, and are definitely july filers despite the NOA1 dates, they are still generally honoring the order in which petitions were received... but that said, the good news is yes, you have a pretty good chance of having a NOA2 before new year, but at this point it's probably a coin toss for both of us, since we sent our petitions late in the month.

Uh, your timeline says you sent your petition august 4th, that sounds like august to me, even if you had sent your petition the last week of july that's good enough for my picky standards... so far the approvals at VSC have been for people who sent their petition mid july, I think the latest date was the 23rd or 24th of july, I feel like I'm ranting and raving about this because I've explained it so many times now.

I think I picked dec 9 as the first CSC august NOA2 (in the csc only august thread), and based on your timeline you are as likely a canidate as any to be the person to get that... did you write the wrong date in your timeline for sent date or are you just thinking you sent it earlier than you had?
