Marm can you not contact USCIS and have it changed in the system before they send it off to NVC?????

No unfortunately I can't change it through USCIS because my attorney told me that I will have to send a letter to USCIS which most probably will NOT reach my file in time for approval, she said that I should get it changed through NVC, but now I am thinking about when I should start contacting NVC about this, since they don't have my file yet, they can't really help me. And as the online system at USCIS is so unreliable, I cannot depend on it to figure out when my file goes to NVC, I think I will just start contacting NVC as more Aug filers from CSC get approved, seems like I have no choice but to do that.

Can your attorney do it for you? Seems since they are the ones telling you to wait and should be helping you to track it, they should do something for all that $$$ you pay right?

Well, I just called NVC to ask about the procedure to change the embassy and they told me that for K-1 I will have to do it with USCIS, because NVC just looks at the information entered on the computer before sending out the case to the embassy. So then I will call USCIS tomorrow during their office hours and see what I will have to do to change the embassy. My attorney is not cooperating, I mean when I told her I need the embassy changed she said she would do it for me and then email me with a confirmation, and then I got a call from her the next day after our conversation, she said that it will be difficult to do and that USCIS will not be able to take care of it in time, that I should be the one contacting NVC...so I feel like I am going around in circles, she is the representative in my case, so she should be changing it...I mean I am paying her $500 for this entire case....I just wish I knew about VJ before I hired her...anyway I will just call USCIS tomorrow and hopefully they will help me out. Wish me luck!

I like the strong security requirements USCIS has, strong passwords enforced, you must change your password every x days and the new password must be different from the last password (and possibly even unique from every password you've ever used)... but the information that your login grants you access to is pretty much publicly available by punching in WAC and EAC numbers for cases... the only thing in there really is the last updated date for seeing when a touch happened, kind of silly if you ask me (and probably the result of some legislation that requires anything with a password on a government site to be strong, regardless of what it protects).

I tried that, and it still wouldn't let me change it. Now it just says "invalid password" no matter what I put in.

Oh well.. we'll hopefully get things sorted through email sometimes next week, otherwise just hope it comes through the mail as well as the NOA1 did. We were lucky with the NOA1 because it was dated ONE day after it arrived at VSC! Very speedy.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I'm dying my hair today (frosted brown), working a little on some projects and might also draw Bill a picture for Christmas  if I have time..

Of course, this is the one I bought..

My hair is naturally darkest brown / black anyways, but I've started to see some roots come through since I coloured it reddish brown this summer, so thought it was best to colour it. :)

If it's any consolation gemmie, you don't have to use a password to check your case status, you can always go to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearc...ASE_NUMBER_HERE to see your case status, you just won't see any touch information, as a side bonus, when you use the link and put your case number at the end and get your case info, you can bookmark the page, then you don't have to fool with the login garbage every time you go to the site...

Thanks, yeah I still check the status, it;s just that we all know that you can't really trust the status to change when it should. :)

It's awfully quiet in here, is it not?
