Expedite- Case sent from Vermont to California

Yesterday I called the USCIS and requested to Expedite our case due to Severe financial loss.

This morning I received an E mail that read as follows:

Is this how it is usually done????

Current Status: Case Transfered to Another Office for Processing

On August 6, 2008, we transferred this case I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow the instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 to update your address. You can use our processing dates to estimate when your case may be processed by following the link below. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case by registering in the link below.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

I got this email today too - but we haven't requested an expedite - I think they just worked out that they can't deal with the backlog at Vermont on their own and are getting help from California - let's hope this means an approval soon for us both

Shall we change our processing centre to California??

I think the best way for you to follow on your expedite is to keep calling the USCIS and in worst case scenario make an infopass appointment at your local office to find out exactly what is going on. The e-mail you received is a standard message most people receive when their cases are transferred to a new office, not because they have been expedited.

How do you have to show (financial loss), do they ask you for any proof or what is the reason if you don't mind?

I think they have just realised how far behind some of the Oct/Nov/Dec filers are at VSC - bet they just discovered our files in a pile somewhere and have sent them to CSC cos they can't cope at VSC.

We hadn't requested any expedite at VSC nor have we called them recently.

But what it does mean KIMF is that we are now outside the CSC processing times - they are processing I-130s for Jan 17th. So we can at least ring them about that if we don't hear anything soon.

Time to time, you see on the news that they have found someone in her/his house been dead for years? Just imagine that poor officer was old and passed away and no one notice and he had all these cases for 1 year ago.

I year only for approval is just none sense. I don't know what are they doing. July 2007 FEE RUSH has a lot to do with this but I thought they have hired more staff to take care of this backlog.

I think it will be a lil bit faster... and yes, i agree it can't be any slower... CSC hired the double of their staff on March (i saw it at CNN on April). We have seen some May 2008 filers approved already so, hopefully it will be faster

will transferring the case to csc make it faster compared to it staying at vsc? if thats the case, can we request to be moved to csc? i noticed csc works faster than vsc

Severe Financial Loss: Talk to agent via phone to request for it. They will send you an email in which there is a fax#. You then gather your bank statement, property tax, insurance, your support for your spouse, your salary. Outline every major expenses & income in the excel. You should show them the cost of maitaining two residencies (yours & your spouse) is way over what you & your spouse make and you have no other source of income to cover that cost. Use all your common senses to prove it to them. Good luck

I got expedition approval a month ago for the same reason too. There has been a few touches since. The case is still sitting in VSC.
