Ok I have an urgent question... I was just checking on the barcoded coversheet from the NVC online and it is different from the one on James's shortcut... my husband already submitted the papers (ds230) with the coversheet from James's shortcut because we didn't even know that we had that option... :bonk::crying: Do you think we are going to have a problem???? or it's the letter that the NVC sends after they receive IV payment just like James's shortcut????? :help::help::help::help::clock::clock::clock:

I don't really think it will matter because even though I used the on-line payment, the NVC also sent me, via snail-mail, a form that I could use to pay via snail-mail that looked exactly like what you see on James's Shortcuts. As long as it has the case number on it, you'll be fine. They have a separate computer system that (or at least, is supposed to) tells them if you paid. Just putting the cover sheet in the package doesn't tell them anything. They look at their computer system to see if you paid. (In my case, even though I had paid, it told them that I hadn't--but that's another story--It's all fixed now anyway).

I used the bottom one. But don't worry about it. They will figure it out. What they do it open your package and scan the barcode. The barcode is the same on both. They will then see your file on their computer screen. It will say that you paid and they will start reviewing your file. No problem!

This is what I posted in the other thread :

understand it looks different... Put it this way, you will know in a couple days if there was a problem. I don't propose that a problem will arise because all of the correct information is listed on the form. Really, the one from NVC is just as simple as the JAmes's Shortcut one. The little message that the sheet needs to be included in the packet. The beneficary, the barcode and the CR1 or IR1 part (depending on the case). Did you write your case number on the top of all the DS-230 forms just in case something gets lost? It isn't mandatory, but it's a good idea. Anyway though, you should be fine and if there is really something wrong... you will know in a couple days. Depending on which service you sent the paperwork out with, it should arrive either the next day, or within 3 days. They usually enter the information within the 3rd day of receiving the packet and case usually completes a week or two after that. Good luck.

...and put it this way - there is nothing you can do about the form now -- so don't stress yourself out. The worst you will have to do is resend the correct form (which I don't think you will have to). Just relax. :)(F)

glad it worked out fine! I'm just sending mine off today.... the operator couldn't even tell me that my IV fee had been paid, even though $400 disappeared from my bank account....!!!

so although the DS-230 appears not to have been generated yet, I just followed the NVC weblink and downloaded the barcode and will send that

I'm adding proof of payment of the IV (receipt + online bank statement) just in case

The same thing happened to Yoke, try calling NVC before sending the ds230, make sure that they are gonna process it when they get it so you don't get delays!!

hello..just like to ask when u send ds230 what envelop did u use? is there a formal envelop or something to send the ds230 or a normal envelop will do? my hubby will send it tomorrow so asking me any instructions..Ü

thanks

the envelope i used to send the DS 230 documents to my husband was the very same envelope he sent back to NVC, as i recall, it was a long brown envelope with all the documents they asked from us to submit.

did u put something at the back of each page of the documents and the photos too?

NOPE, nothing behind any documents but i did print out my name at the back of the 2 (2x2) pics i sent in. i also included in the mail the "extra" page i needed for boxes where my answers to some items don't fit..thats it, no more, no less..

YES, just your name (last name first then given name followed by middle initial). pen or pencil, whichever you like.

i'm not sure where you got that info about putting your name and hubby's name and case number behind pages...i never did that with mine, but i didn't get any RFE..though i'm not saying it's incorrect, i just don't have any idea about that. where did you get that info?
