I'm about to start proccesing my K1 visa for my filipina fiancee and I just need to know what to put for question 18 on the I-129F form which says

Describe the circumstances under which you met. If you have not personally met each other, explain how the relationship was

established. If you met your fiancé(e) or spouse though an international marriage broker, please explain those circumstances in

Question 19 below. Explain also in detail any reasons you may have for requesting that the requirement that you and your

fiancé(e) must have met should not apply to you.

Does this mean to include information about all our trips and meeting with her (I've met with her 4 times in 2 yrs)

-or-

Just about how we met at the start, for example, through a dating agency like filipinaheart or cherryblossom and just describe how you picked her out and started writing to her

Thank You

Martin

Basically you are describing how you and your fiancee met each other. Some people just fill out that little box with a little description and some include a separate sheet.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

The requirement for the I-129F is that you have met personally within the last 2 years. We put a brief description of how we met in the first place, then a little information on the subsequent times we'd spent time together.

Thanks for the help

so if I just put on the form that....

I met Donesa through an introduction agency and started writing to her in June of 2006 and then visited her on 4 different occasions in the Philippines, in January 2007, November 2007, April 2008 and July 2008.

This will suffice, or will i need a bot more detail about each trip, where we went and what we did etc?

Thanks again for all the help

Martin

Hi Martin,

That's pretty much what I wrote and then indicated on the petition to refer to the photos and plane tickets et al of our meeting.

This is what I have for i-129F question 18:

I met <fiance> through a family friend and started talking to her in <date>. We have been writing and talking regularly and she visited me in <date>. Please see additional attached sheet(s) labeled "Proof of having met in person in the past two years" and "Proof of ongoing relationship."

I wanted to keep it short and to the point. Will this work?

(My attached evidence for ongoing history is a call log, we didn't have very many emails actually since we talked mostly via phone and skype. I don't really know of a way to export skype logs if anyone has any thoughts). For our call logs - since it was using a calling card - we can print out the call history going back a few months. Is it ok if I grab excerpts (say a few each month) instead of printing out several pages?

Thanks

tlnt

From my understanding, this question is referring to how you met in person.

Mine simply states "After speaking online for 8 months, on May 5th, 2008, I traveled to Australia by plane and spent approximately 6 weeks at my fiances home until my departure back to the US on June 15th, 2008."

I don't know that I would put "introduction agency" on there as it might be a red flag for a CO to think marriage broker in disguise? Maybe dating site if you even feel it's necessary to mention that aspect at all, rather than just a generic "online"?

Good luck!!

I wrote a one-page single spaced explanation of exactly how and where we met, all significant dates in our relationship (when we started dating, when we got engaged), the nature of the time we spent together, my relationship with his extended family, his relationship with my family, when we plan to get married, etc. and attached it to the application. If you read the Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM), the consulate is not supposed to deny your application for anything that has already been approved by the USCIS (so anything that you include in this initial petition), unless it can prove it was fraudulent. So, it's a good idea to include as much as possible as to the validity in the initial application. .

I wrote a one page letter also for question 18. The first paragraph described how we met and where, and the next two paragraphs described my two trips to India and the last paragraph was a conclusion about our desire to get married, etc.
