I just looked at your timeline and since it's very similar to ours, I'd like to ask a question. When was your check cashed? We're still waiting for USCIS to make a move and either cash my fiance's check or mail the whole packet back to him... (he forgot to date the check). We sent the petition in on the 20th and that same Semegi person signed for it on the 22nd. Nothing has happened since, at least that we know of.

We mailed a money order instead of a check.

Last Friday the 22nd of August I went to the post office to check to see if the money order had been cashed and it was not.

But they still mailed our NOA1 which was on the 20th of August.

I am guessing they know that they are guaranteed their money with a money order since it is the USPS.

Just be patient and be optimistic.

I hope you receive good news soon.

I understand how hard it is to be patient during something as improtant as this.

I think we're actually right now hoping that the packet is on its way back and that it'll arrive before my fiance is leaving for Croatia... Unless some miracle happens and they decide to cash the check instead.

Too bad I'm not really an optimist.

So it's been 8 days since I sent my packet, and it still hasn't been delivered. I went to the post office today and the guy said he couldn't tell me anything but that it should have arrived last Thursday or Friday. I think I'm going to cry.

Will they send it to your lawyer and then he/she will send it to you?

or do they send two copies out? or just one copy to you?

Not sure how that works.

April 5th, 2009: We're flying back together!

April 21st, 2009: Got legally married!

PLEASE EMAIL YOUR CONSULATE A FEW DAYS AFTER MAILING IN YOUR PACKET 3 DOCUMENTS JUST IN CASE THEY EMAIL YOU AN APPOINTMENT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND YOU END UP NOT RECEIVING IT. THEY DO EMAILS NOW!!!!

I sent mine UPS and it took almost a week to get there... I am having a hard time viewing myself as patient, and I know it's just the beginning. Seriously, how dumb do you have to be to fall for someone living in another country, you have to be a glutton for punishment to get involved in this process. I'm not expecting a NOA1 any time too soon, maybe mid september since I have to wait on the hard copy... I guess the plus side to that, is between the mail and delay from them issuing noa1 and me actually receiving the document a big chunk of the wait for noa2 will be out of the way.

OMG. I just checked the tracking AGAIN and guess what, it was returned to sender, could not be delivered as addressed. #######?! I addressed it exactly the way it says to on here and the instructions! ARG!!!!!! Well at least I know. I'm Fedexing it next time, screw the waiting.

OK. I just officially checked. When I mailed the packet I copied the address I used onto the receipt and it's RIGHT! I'm seriously so frustrated I'm working on tears. Now I have to wait a week for it to come back before I can mail it again. *sigh*.

I never got a hard copy letter from USCIS for my NOA1. Does that even matter? only my lawyer got one. But I do have a case number.
