On the G-325A

I have them filled out for me and hubby, I am the USC...do I sign both or does he sign his and I sign mine...?

What is the fee for the I-130? do I send a US funded check from my bank or is a money order better?

On the I-130 it asks about relatives of the beneficiary... we listed our son we have together, and me as his wife, do I also list my oldest son from a previous relationship and put "step son"? My husband is the only father he knows and his father is not on his birth certificate, or do I just leave him out all together?

Thanks guys, I am so ready to mail this packet off and get the ball going. I am worried we wont complete this in time for us to move together when we leave Canada....

And the passport size photos for the G-325A are they US standard 2X2 or is it 4x4???

Our Journey

6 June 2008- Mailed I130 to Toronto (DCF)

7 Nov 2008- I130 approved in Toronto!!

21 Nov 2008- Received Packet 3 from Montreal

4 Jan 2009- Mailed Packet back

9 Feb 2009- Medical in Toronto

24 Apr 2009- Interview in Montreal...Approved!!!

30 Apr 2009- Received Visa... few hours later crossed to border for the 6 day drive to Utah!!

6 Apr 2009- Arrived at our new HOME!!

13 May 2009- Welcome letter received

19 May 2009- Went to social security office and "applied" for SSN

22 May 2009- SS Card arrived in mail!! (I guess they did send in the paperwork at the interview...)

Each indivuidual signs the g-325a

Fee is in the instructions to the form, currently $355 and should be paid in US funds (US Bank or US funded MO)

listing step son would be OK

2" x 2" passport photos

YMMV

Hi Reeena,

The money order you are getting, just wanted to make sure you know it has to be issued from a U.S. financial institution. Banks like CIBC and TD etc normally issue their U.S. dollar money orders through their U.S. affiliate bank.

not to forget the marriage certificate...i don't know the list of documents, if you DCF, but check that forum as well. Best of luck in your process! oh just to make sure: the g-325 are to be filled by each of you both and there are 4 pages each. In any case, if something is missing they'll rfe you themselves.

I didn't realize you were doing DCF - that might make a difference with the money order guidelines

The consulate in Toronto has you send in copies of everything and then they make an appointment for applicant in person to present documents...

There is no "walk in" service

Wow, cool  . Those a-holes made me drive from Edmonton to Calgary to present our I-130 in person.

They do that for the cool people!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I think they have us send everything in so that when we have the "appointment" they know we actually have everything..cause you know how busy they are... LOL

I actually had to send a signed statement saying I have the original documents that I sent copies of and I will present the originalsw when requested...

atleast you got to talk and see someone when you submitted it, I just hope I got it all and will wait for an email from them. They requested both of our email addresses along with all the other things they wanted...
