Hey guys! I am off to Dublin tonight & I am bringing all my paperwok over(well just a few things I forgot last trip). Anyway-I got a letter from my bank a few months back.

Will it be ok if it is a few months old at the time of the interview-or shoudl I get a new one? It just states that I have an accont in good standing & that I have payroll checks deposited bi-weekly.

any thoughts?

The letter is supposed to state the date the account was opened, and what the total amount of deposits were for the past 12 months, and the current balance.

You might want to get another one if it's not going to be difficult for you, just to be sure.

Our bank did ours while we waited, no charge.

I guess I can try..............It does state when the account was opened, and all my deposits, but they said it couldn't list all deposits for the year-not sure why but that is what they said. They just verified that I have bi-weekly payroll deposits. I was under the impression that it didn't matter what my balance is. I mean-once I pay my bills each month-not much is left :(

I will have to go back & just mail it over to him before the interview.

I'm expecting my bank to be plonkers about this. So I've been saving all my bank statements for the last year as well. Could you go online and print off your monthly statements?

I will just go back & get a new letter. I described the one I have now a few months ago here on vj & everyone thought it was fine. I will just get one that is a little more current. I also plan on giving him my last few paystubs, tax transcripts(just in case), a letter from my employer and of course the I-134. I think we will be fine. I certainly don't have much in the bank-that's for sure :crying:

thanks guys (F)

As per the Optional FORM 167 guide on I-134:

Affidavits of Support should be of recent date when presented to the consular officer. They are unacceptable if more than one year has elapsed from the date of execution.

To be safe.. you might want to obtain the statement with more recent date.

Hope this help...

My I-134 was dated & signed last week.............I think we will be ok with that. Besides-we thought the interview would have been held in April/May. I didn't know he would have to wait over a month to get an appt for fingerprints

I was under the impression that things are good for a few months(bank letter) I will also mail him my next few paystubs. I can't imagine that everyone would have things dated the week of their interviews-considering we never know when they will be.

irishgirl,

What's your average balance - more than, roughly, 4 figures? If not, your bank account really doesn't make much difference and so neither does the letter.

If your bank acount is in high 4-figures or more territory, and your income is marginal or insufficient, then it may make a difference.
