My husband's 2-year greencard will be expiring in about 4 weeks. I am mailing off the I-751 application today but what happens if the greencard expires before you get the NOA? Can you use the receite from the money order showing that you did mail it off until the NOA comes in the mail? I have everything I need for the application, noterized letters from family and friends, bills and accounts in both of our names, photos of our marriage and pictures of our daughters birth and the cover letter. I am more worried that I wont get the NOA before the greencard expires. We don't plan on leaving the country or taking any trips( who can afford to? lol) SO do you think it will be ok?

You will be fine, I would use a traceable method like USPS Priority mail Certified with the green receipt card, that way you will at least have the signature card indicating that USCIS signed for it and received the package.

You are filing for: Removal of Conditions, NOT N/A

Considering the time frame you should be ok because they usually send it within 30 days from the receipt of the package however if I can provide you with a little piece of advise I would recommend that you send the package via FED EX so you can be assured that they have received the package and you will have proof (signature of person who signed for the package). GOOD LUCK

Just send it using USPS Priority, Certified, with the green Return Receipt card.

I got my NOA and receipt card on the same day!

If you truly need to go somewhere that requires you to show you are still "in status", you can always schedule an InfoPass apppointment and get the ASC to stamp your passport with an I-551 stamp.

Just get your package mailed now, and you should have your extension letter in a week or a little over.
