Hello all,

I am in Detroit, Michigan. Please share your experience how long takes to get between the application sent to Nebraska center at the beginning of May 2008 (fingerprints done too) and receiving the interview letter. I have read on this forum that a lot of people who applied in May 2008 (different districts and cities), they already get the interview notice in mail.

In NOA says that: “You should expect to be notified within 90 days of this notice”…..and it’s still pending. Should I place an Infopass or should I wait another 1-2 weeks? What do you advice me? Detroit processing time for N-400 is January 2, 2008 right now……my question is: how come others already received the interview notice and their local offices for processing N 400 says it’s way back in 2007?

Thanks,

Sandra

If living near Michigan counts, but that piece on the west side of the lake that Lansing forgot, we could reply. Also served by Nebraska.

Maybe we are spoiled by the rapid service we expect when dealing with any US business, order something and our credit card is not billed until shipped, and normally receive it in one or two days, don't like it, return it and get a refund. It's not that way in Venezuela, may take months, and if you are unhappy with it, you are stuck with it. Is Chavez running the USCIS?

Service from the USCIS with the N-400 has been much quicker than expected our NOA was 31Mar2008, said expect to hear something in 280 days, but the interview was over with in 107 days. St. Paul is processing N-400 applications before 14Jul2007 currently, Detroit is way ahead of us with that 2Jan2008 date. As fictitious as these dates may sound, USCIS goes by them and even doubt you will be accepted for an infopass appointment as your May2008 date is far after the published processing date.

Wife was told by her IO she should hear about her oath within two weeks, been three weeks now, we are helpless, as the notice says we have to wait 120 days, but it's frustrating. If any business treated us this way, we would be looking someplace else, but the USCIS has a monopoly. And even if you paid your fee, and supplied all of the request information, still no guarantee that you will receive what you applied for. Disheartened by post of people waiting months or years for a name check or were somehow assigned a double alien number, then one was approved at the interview but instead of an oath letter received a letter requesting more evidence. Those that have missed appointments have to wait months to get another and these appointments are never mutually agreed upon, it's not like you have work, school, or a long planned trip, when they say, be there, or else.

Most of us here went through the initial application, then the I-751, have green cards that you do not get out of Cracker Jack box that already required tons of proof, with the N-400, that is history and we are starting all over again. Further disheartening to us that our field office does not take oaths, has to be turned over to yet another agency that is having excessive delays. And have a very poor history to go on in the private sector when having to deal with several agencies, each has an arrogance that they are the best and really don't have to deal with other agencies. A reason given for 9/11, the cure? Form yet another agency.

So what can we do? Wait? It has been over five years for most of us to get this far, what's another day?
