I haven't posted before, but I can't help but vent my frustration to hopefully understanding ears. I filed on 3/20/08 and have been sitting here watching other people who filed as recently as April already getting thier NOA2's and we are still sitting here waiting. Does anyone have any words of advice on how to handle this waiting period when it is so incredibly frustrating? Does anyone by chance understand the real order that CSC goes in? Because it obviously isn't really by date.

I know I sound really whiney right now, but it's hard not to when I am so frustrated with this system. Thank you guys for reading!

It's more or less a luck of the draw unfortunately.. If your adjudication date has run past the expected date of NOA2 I would contact the USCIS. I know it's frustrating, I got my first taster today of someone getting their NOA2 before me and they filed after me :( it's not nice but sure you will have good news soon!!

Its' a ####### shoot. You can never really tell how fast something is going to go or why it's happening like it is. You just have to buckle in and wait.

Those timelines are only guides. They are not the end all word on how your case will go.

I'm sorry for that. Hang in there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

Unfortunately everyone who already posted is right...it's basically just who gets lucky or not. The explanation I've heard for why they approve in weird orders is this: all petitions, of every type, received are boxed up together the order they're received and put into storage. When the adjudicators' desks are empty they grab the oldest box, open it up, and start working on the petitions inside. Up until now they were processed by order of receipt. However...at this point they all go to different adjudicators. Some people might get a really fast adjudicator, some people get a really slow one, some people's adjudicator goes on vacation for two weeks, someone's might have had a fight with their spouse so they refuse to work on any relationship-based petitions today, etc. So...once it gets to a desk, it's honestly just luck of the draw as to how fast your adjudicator works.

I completely understand the frustration. My noa1 is dated February 11 and I didn't get approved until July 11. There are still some active February filers who are waiting...there are still active January filers who are waiting and I won't even get started on the people still waiting from 2007, because that's just ridiculous. I wish I had good advice for you on how to handle the waiting period...I know this sounds kind of trite, but just take it one day at a time. Whenever I tried to think about the next week or the next month, I would get overwhelmed and depressed. There were weeks at a time where I just couldn't read anyone's approval posts. It was very selfish of me...but I honestly just had to take a break from VJ. When you have to do that...it's ok, everyone here (at least everyone who filed at CSC ;) ) understands. *hug* I hope you get your NOA2 soon!

Hi there :)

You are in the most frustrating part of the process right now. I experienced it myself and have watched other monthly threads go through the same thing. The hardest part to get through is the last bit before the NOA2. People are whiney, depressed, angry and generally obsessed with checking their status. Then when people with dates past you get approved, you really go into freaky mode. It's because you just have no clue how it's going and so many of your hopes and dreams are tied up in the wait. Just make yourself go 3 days without checking or force yourself to clean out a closet or something to distract yourself. When it happens, you will be so busy with trying to keep up with the next steps that'll you'll forget this terrible waiting anguish. Prepare yourself for the next step....how to call the NVC to see if they have your petition, how to track to the embassy with DHL, how to fill out the I-134 (petitioner) or DS documents (beneficiary), how to call the DOS to find out lots of things. Make some notes for all those things now so when the time comes, you're prepared. There's nothing much you can do about getting the NOA2 but it will come soon. Sorry you're feeling this way, but I did too and I know it gets better.

Right at this moment I'm obsessing on the courier who was supposed to deliver the holy grail K1 Visa yesterday and did not. So they promised it would be today between 1:00 and 3:00. Now they have 11 minutes to go and I don't have much confidence that it's going to happen. ARGHHH!

Oh how I relate to that bit of your post, Aravis. I was hissing obscenities at March filers that had been approved before me!:lol:

I think it may be a bit 'easier' for me because I was around when uscis was trying to handle the influx of petitions last year. Both centers were taking 6+ months and longer at times. Those poor folks. :( Then the crazy disparity between the two centers processing. In Jan VSC was taking under a month for many while CSC was still at 6+. If there is one thing this process is... it's unfair.

I have no advice for you but to stay busy. If checking is making you crazy then make a goal not to do it as much. I'm not much for superstition tho. ;) I check a few times daily but it doesn't yet make me want to throw my pc out the window. ;)

When I am frustrated I daydream about that moment Russell is back in my arms for good and that just lifts me up. I think about all of the people that I knew last year and our Sara (estadia) who has been waiting over a year due to bogus security checks (if you ask me ;) ). I think about all of the years that we've already spent together and focus on the fact that it wont be much longer before we are on to the next steps and together for good!

It's hard... but becoming extra frustrated about it is not going to make it go any faster. It's going to take more from me emotionally and physically and I just can't have that. I started working out more... reaching out to my friends and support systems more...

There is no rhyme or reason that people were approved before you. Someone with our Noa1 was approved over a month ago and here we are... waiting. When you read about how our petitions are handled and understand how many they actually receive...it's no wonder there is not more order.

It will come and, as nich stated, once it's here it will be a whirlwind for many of us...do what you can to prepare for it now and spend as much time with your love as you can.

good luck to you

Thank you all for your support. It really is helpful.

I feel bad for everyone that I have to interact with on a daily basis. I know that the past couple of weeks I have been a complete B**** just because this whole process is driving me crazy.

We definitely aren't past the USCIS Reported date and when I did call them the other day they were of absolutely no help...She couldn't even check to see if the receipt number I have been tracking was the right one for my case (I saw Aravis's post about having been tracking the wrong number).

Anyways, thank you all again for your support, as selfish as it is I am glad to know there are other people in the same situation as me

I filed with CSC on March 23, but I always go off of my NOA1 date as the first meaningful milestone, which for me is April 1. As of today, my USCIS status page shows my petition as untouched, but I'm not too worried about that. I called last week and was told it could take 6 months to 3 years!!?!?! The guy was nice enough, but his analogy of "riding in the folds of an Elephant's hide" was neither comforting or encouraging. I don't want to guess at how many times each day he springs that tired saying on his befuddled callers. I don't envy him the job of placating frustrated petitioners, but his "analogy" was not helpful. Could it have been some kind of veiled telegraphing of his displeasure with the Republican administration? hmmm...

I'm guessing an early-to-mid-September NOA2 for me. In the meantime, I can always comfort my One by telling her that the US government says we're stuck in an elephant's skin.

John&Amy-- I am experiencing the exact same feeling. We received our NOA1 on March 3...and still no NOA2! It's very frusterating. I too watch others, who applied after us, receiving their NOA2. I have stopped looking at timelines and time frames, it just puts me down. Everyday I wake up telling myself, this will be the day...and it hasn't happened! I hate saying and hearing this, but, unfortunately we can't do anything but wait.
