Hello,

we are going through DCF process in Prague. I am just waiting to get my UK police certificate.

My friend told me yesterday that after I get immigrant visa and I travel to USA, I will not be allowed to travel abroad for 2 years. She also told me that if I will really need to travel abroad I will have to apply for Advanced Parole.

Is that true? Maybe this does not apply to DCF.... I do not know. I am totally confused.

Thanks :help:

This is Incorrect

You are being misinformed, what your friend told you is wrong, If you go with the DCF route and you fly here, you will receive your conditional Green card, it's valid for 2 years, and 1 year 9 months prior to your approval date you can apply for the 10 year permanent green card. There's a DCF Forum in here you can check it for more information.

Your friend might be confuse with K1 then fill for AOS, Adjustment of Status, one of the form there is the I-131 (ADVANCE PAROLE) that allows you to travel out of the US, while your AOS is being process.

Good luck filling DCF

Your friend is mistaken (tho I have heard others think the same thing).

The visa resulting from a DCF case is the same Immigrant Visa that one would get by filing I-130 in the US: CR-1 or IR-1.

I recommend the following reads to anyone who is becoming a Permanent Resident, so you can better understand your rights and responsibilities.

Yes, and even this takes just a few months, not two years.

I wonder where people get their information sometimes.
