Please help! Confused about K-1 or K-3!?

I am a US citizen and I come and visit friends and family every summer in Romania. Last summer I met someone on my usual visit here in Romania. We kept our relationship even though I had to go back home to finish college. I came to visit last winter and now in summer. Its about time for me to leave again and we both cant stand the idea of being apart again. He asked me to marry him! I was so excited at first until I did more research on the different types of visa's and the waiting times. I am still here in Romania until the end of August. I want to do whats best and quickest for us. Should we get married here and then apply for the K-3 visa or is it for our best interest to remain engaged and then marry in America.

Please any advice or tips about what I should do is greatly appreciated!

K1 is slightly faster at Vermont Service Center, but K3 is apparently faster in California.

The waiting times, though, are not too too different right now. K1 is also a bit easier at first because it requires a bit less documentation at first (that you are still gonna need AT SOME POINT, though!). Good luck and congratulations

really depends on your preferences...k1 prob quickest with adjusting later, cr1 longer in time and can work when arrive...just need read and research for what you want to do...

You're not going to be able to file a petition until you get home anyway, so I'd make the when and where of your marriage fit your life plan, priorities and goals. Once decided, act accordingly. If you marry abroad, I'd strongly suggest simply filing the I-130 and taking the CR1 visa path instead of the K3 at this time. This will allow your husband virtually immediate work authorization upon arrival and avoid significant additional fees and hassle.
