Regardless, I think we can all agree that the current American family

visa process is a monstrosity that needs severely reviewed.

Well, yeah. But it ain't gonna get any better anytime soon. It's more likely to completely collapse when 12 to 20 million EWI's are added to the mix.

WOW - Isn't the point of this forum for people to have a place to ask questions and to get advice or information from people who have been through the process? My involvement here has always been to answer questions with information that I have and to offer assistance and guidance. When I post my own questions, I do so to try to get additional information or guidance from people who have either been through the same situation in the past or are in the midst of it now. I find it very sad and upsetting to see a thread of nasty responses to someone who is simply asking for advice. Can't we try to place a whole lot nicer?

1.Will this change anything about our case and will it cause us any delays in the process?

No one can say for sure.

2.Being that she is far from me and i really want to be part of the delivery is it possible that we can get the petition expedited so that she can come to the u.s.a before the baby is due.

You can probably have your case expedited at USCIS level (if you are able to talk to a live human being on their info line, that is) but not at the Manila Embassy level. There are many pregnant fiancees in Manila and they don’t get special treatment. I’ve only heard of “military and medical expedite” getting approved. But there’s no harm in trying to get an expedited interview so why not try. Who knows you might get lucky.

I am not very impressed with the quality of health care provided in the philippines and want to have her here with me so i can be sure she gets the best care available.

If you don’t expect a complicated pregnancy, we have very good hospitals in the Philippines. By the way, the US is the biggest “importer” of our doctors and nurses so that speaks of the quality of our care here.

3.What is the timeline that a k1 visa process is from the philippines,i see so much conflicting information on the web and i am so confused about it all.

8-10 months if your case don't get sucked into “Administrative Review” blackhole.

Why does it take months and months to come to America when I could've brought my USC fiancee to the British consulate and obtained a visa for her in an afternoon?

I know you were well intentioned, elwintro, but I agree with Brother Dean on this one....

Yes, certainly, he has a valid point. But I still don't think the OP should

just sit back and do nothing. The USCIS and local consulates are morally

obliged to pay special attention to pregnant fiancees because their cases

are no longer about the desire of two people to be together, but are about

a real need for them to be together. Whether or not this obligation

is realised by the authorities at any level is another question, but, as my

mum always used to say, "If you need to go, speak up!" :)

i can see you have little or no experinece with the us government and uscis..when you do ..you be more accountable ..instead of a whiner...

also, if anyone wanted to hurry the process ..and their finace was female..just go see her and get her preg..and go to the head of the line under your suggestion

The reason i am concerned is that a visa once it is issued is only good for 6 months and the airlines wont allow a pregnant paasanger after they are 7 months and there is some concerns of flying a newborn baby until it reaches 6 months of age so i am worried we might lose the visa during this short window of oppertunity.

From the way

Congrats on the pregnnacy and I just wanted to let you know this is not true. Newborns fly all the time. And most doctors will let you fly pregnant into your 8th month as long as there are not complications.

the doctors might, but the airlines might not.

yes.. if she went into labor in midflight.. you know how much it will cost the airline to devert to other airport. The cost of fuel that it will burn to get their and when they land, they have to pay landing fees and then get refueled and lost of time and other factors.. I doubt at 8 mos they will let a pregnet lady on. :)

cristy,

No. In fact, you should not be admitted at all.

Wait a minute - maybe I'd better ask what the debilitating disease is first. Are the symptoms wide mood swings accompanied by a swollen abdomen?

Seriously, there are diseases that make one inadmissable to the USA.

Yodrak

...

I have just been diagnosed with a debilitating disease, should I get there sooner than someone who is healthy?

....

gobdogman,

You and your fiancee didn't take these things into consideration, but you expect the USCIS and DoS to? Why didn't you do your worrying at the appropriate time?

If we expedited cases wherein there were fetuses, babies, or children involved, the net effect would be zero—because there would be so many "expedited" cases that an expedite would mean nothing.

It's 2006. Pregnancy is not a miracle—it's a wonderful experience, but people make babies every single day. Roll the dice with Manila and best of luck to you, but don't hold your breath.

Hope someone can help me with this .

I just found out that my fiancee is pregnant and we didnt know this when i sent my papers to the service center for the k1 petition.

There is a couple things that i am needing help with and hope that someone can help me with some info.

1.Will this change anything about our case and will it cause us any delays in the process?

2.Being that she is far from me and i really want to be part of the delivery is it possible that we can get the petition expedited so that she can come to the u.s.a before the baby is due.

I am not very impressed with the quality of health care provided in the philippines and want to have her here with me so i can be sure she gets the best care available.

3.What is the timeline that a k1 visa process is from the philippines,i see so much conflicting information on the web and i am so confused about it all.

Oh by the way it is my child incase anyone is going to ask that. She is just now 7 weeks pregnant and i was there from 3/24/06 to 4/12/06

1. No

2. No, if she isn't here by then, plan on a trip to the PIs. The quality of health care is a reflection of the system used, that the current USSA administration wants to apply here. They (USCIS) will probably slow the process so your fiancee can take advantage of the FREE government (and therefore "better") heathcare in the PIs. Are you a silly neo-con, racist, sexist capitalist pig or something? Kidding.... it will make no difference.

3. Check the timelines here at this site, it will be about the best estimate you will receive anywhere. I wasn't going to ask about the father, I presumed you knew how it happened. I think it is done pretty much the same way in the Phillipines, yes?
