Hello All,

I am curious about when I should receive the NOA1. I filed a separate I-130 for my wife and step-daughter, who currently live in Thailand, back on 15 Jun 08, the petitions were received and the checks were cashed by 24 Jun 08. It is now 4 Aug 08 and I still have yet to receive NOA1's for the petitions. I called back on 15 Jul 08 and received their receipt numbers but still haven't received the NOA1's. When I call USCIS, initially they were saying the NOA1 should have been sent out, the USCIS website says a notice has been mailed out saying how they will process our case. When I call USCIS now, nobody knows what is a NOA1. I contacted a Senator regarding expediting their petitions, the contact from the Senator's office says they send the NOA1's when they get ready to start the case. Does this sound correct about I-130 petitions?

I am also curious if I should continue pressing for an expedite, I initally requested for an expedite due to housing regulations on military installations saying your dependents have to be within 30 days of arriving to get on base housing. The same week I requested for an expedite, there was a border dispute going on between Thailand and Cambodia which is where my wife and step-daughter are residing. I tried to request an expedite the same week and was told I had to wait to see if the first request was approved or denied. After it was denied, I tried to request an expedite but they were having problems with the system, then later said I have to wait 60 days between the request even though the 2 countries were close to going to war. I have contacted Senators, members of Congress, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok requesting for their assistance. I was told by one of the Senators who was assisting me that I have been denied 3 times a request for expedite. Another Senator has responded asking for a letter of consent from me, I am curious if I should continue pressing or just hang it up and wait however long it will take?

Thank you in advance for all replies to this particular case.

dont refer to it as NOA1, USCIS may not know what that is...NOA1 is just an internet jargon...call them and tell them that you have been waiting for your receipt notice or notice of action after you filed I-130. tell them the check has been cashed. look at the back of the check and u will find a receipt number..give them ur receipt number and they can pull up ur case and possibly send u a duplicate NOA1.
