Our luck has finally started to run out! We got the K-3 relatively quickly, the EAD came through very quickly, but now we are stuck with the stupid SSA holding things up. My husband has a job offer sitting here waiting- he can work as soon as he has the SS#. They will not let him work without it. He is in a specialized field that does not have many opportunities in this area. He's already missed out on one job waiting for the EAD, if we miss out on this one due to the stupid SSA I'll scream. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since he first applied for the number in person. He has been back twice since then asking about it and while the woman he saw both times has been helpful, obviously she's not helpful enough to get the number assigned.

I applied for SSN one week after I received my EAD and the SSA officer told me that my name wasn't in the system yet. Ten days after I went to SSA I called them to follow up my application and ask them to update their system. Seven days later I got my SS card in the mail.

I just hope your husband will get his SSN as soon as possible. So he can start the job that was been waiting for him.

Best of luck!

Well, there's still hope that it'll come soon- we are lucky he even has the EAD as we thought it could take through June to get. I just don't want to see him lose out on an employment opportunity now- with the baby coming we need to get him into a job and health insurance started as soon as possible.

Unfortunately since I'm at work all day my husband has been the one going down there- I believe they have sent that already, and she did mention when he went yesterday that she was filling out a form to send to try to expedite it. If my husband was an accountant or something it wouldn't be so bad.....but he is an avionics technician and it's such a limited field in this area. The baby will be here in a few months and he needs to be working and able to provide our child health insurance. Oh well, all we can do is what we have been doing- wait and bug them repeatedly.
