Hello Everyone,

I called NVC and ask if there was anything extra that I would need to send in with the AOS to prove that I can sponsor my husband. I know I make enough to sponsor him with no problem but I only started this job in November 2007. In April 2006 I left for Egypt and stayed in Egypt till April 2007 so on my 2006 tax returns it was only from January till March. On my 2007 tax returns I had only worked part time from April till November, then I started the full time job I have now. But still my income wasn't that great. Today I was told that the NVC doesn't look at that information that it is the Consulate in Cairo that will make that decision if I can support him or not! I told the woman but I make enough now that I am way over the 125 %. She stated yes but you might need a co-sponsor since your 2006 and 2007 income wasn't over that amount. So, my question is, is there anyone else that is having to have a co-sponsor because of the income for the past years even though you make more than enough to sponsor them alone with the job you have now?

Thanks in advance....

We are in similar situation. My husband was oversea in 2005, 2006 and only work in US for 3 months in 2007. He has started his current job in Oct 2007 and his current income is expecting to be way above poverty guideline.

I asked the staff at the consular section, he said it depends on the CO, if he feels you need a co-sponsor, then you have to get one. I am praying we will not need a co-sponsor, at the same time, have my FIL standby as co-sponsor. He hasn't filled up the I-864 form or anything, but he has agreed to step in if there is need.
