My fiance is from the US and he's coming to the Netherlands, so it's the other way around...

I wanted to go and visit him in the US, but the US consulate in the Netherlands also said, that the chance of letting me in was not very big. So we decided for him to come here :D .

By the way.... I didn't tell you all to make you jealous...... SORRY for that!

But I guess everyone can imagine how excited and anxious I am ;)

I thought with the Finace visa that they were not allowed to leave their country to come to the U.S. while it was being processed?

It is allowed to go to the US during the visa journey, but there is a chance that they will send you back to your own country. Especially if they don't trust it and think that you will marry while your in the States.

There are cases known of people being send back, but there are also lots of people who were let in to the US. If you want to give it a try, make sure you (or your fiance) have enough evidence to proof that you will go back after a vacation.

Hi Everybody--

I've been lurking on this forum since my fiancé and I filed for me to join him in the US--we're July '08 filers!

Our situation, thank GOD, is not as tenuous as some peoples' on this forum--I feel tremendous respect and awe for those separated for months while the K-1 process plods along! In our case, J and I have been together for almost three years, were living in Montreal, Canada and were beginning the process of me sponsoring him there, and then J was offered a teaching job in upstate New York (J is American, I am Canadian). So, we decided this career opportunity for him was too great and started the K-1 process with the help of an immigration law firm in Northampton, MA (J is originally from MA), since we had heard and read good things about the firm and also wanted to make sure we did everything right from the start.

So J left Montreal at the beginning of August, I stayed in Montreal, and am currently visiting him until Sept. 28. Our plan thereafter is for him to visit me 1 weekend each month and me visit him for 1 week each month--as long as I can get across the border! I took the train to Albany this time around--had heard border crossing was a bit less "tough-a*s" that way--Um, NOT! I ended up with a border guard who couldn't have been older than...18-20, and she was quite intent on making me squirm in my seat! I had all supporting documents to prove my ties to Canada in case she pressed, which she didn't, but she did say, "So you're visiting for three weeks, eh? Three weeks...I don't know if I like that." Yikes! But I got though. *Phew*

J and I have traveled to the US together often in the past three years and we were never interrogated like that--though we were by car, so perhaps that's a plus?

Anyhow, as per my timeline, we're awaiting NOA2. Also, I was "touched" on August 28 (I can't figure out how to add that to my timeline...). Our lawyers said, in their experience of late--so not for certain, the process takes 3-5 months. Here's hoping!

Good luck to everybody else here!

Anybody who'd like to compare dates/times for other peoples' K-1 processes, take a look at this website. People who filed in June ARE beginning to receive their NOA2 packets, so keep your chins up!!!!

I-129F 6/5/08, NOA1 6/23/08, NOA2 9/18/08 (105 days)

I-129F 6/2/08, NOA1 6/6/06, NOA2 9/5/08 (95 days)

Those are two June filers (Vermont USCIS) that I've found so far who have had some luck this month!!! Let's hope that Vermont keeps on the ball and gets to July pretty soon too!! Good luck to everybody and I hope this comes as good news to you!
