Hi all, he had interview in Havana and recieved the visa the next day, July 18th! We are getting confusing info about the Carta Blanca. He had to file some papers with Cuban Immigration in the city of Trinidad, they said it had to be sent to Havana and back, about 30 days before he had to then pay a fee(anyone know how much?), get a ticket and the carta blanca. When does he actually have to get the ticket, and if I book it for him electronically how can he prove he has it? He'll be flying Air Jamaica from Havana-Montego Bay-JFK.

To all of you out there I initially filed the peteition December 20th, 2008, and he received the Visa July 18th. The Cuban Passport took him 45 days to get.

I am hoping he can be here soon! Any advice or replies are welcome!

You're definitely one (uh, two) of the lucky ones, si man. Actually, if you filed on 20 December 2008, you got the visa months BEFORE you filed, thus setting a VJ record. :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

o MIO DIOS! I am happy for you, and envious!!! That is fantastic turnaround time. Did he already have his medical? If he is able to come soon he will be here for an exciting time , I hope , the election of a new administration, one more fair to Cuba!! Being Cuban American , married to a Cubano, our situacion is HARD! We are still in a big confusion of how best to get a visa for Aldeki to come here as a non-immigrant, and at this point we need help... Thought we had a J- exchange visa thru the college that wanted to hire him but turns out they in using another university for their sponsor could not get a visa third - party.... any way. I still check in on everyone here because it is so helpful to read what others are doing, even if the difference is large, re . immigrating vs. not. When I return there, I am hoping as a spouse to be able to be in Cuba for as long as it takes to come back together next time. I get excited for anyone who is to the point of making their travel plans and awaiting their partner, you have my congratulations , blessings to you para todos, felicidades!!

Hi, he did have his medical, before he got the Visa. he is having a hard time now from his boss who is refusing to sign his paper releasing him from his job, which he needs to get the carta blanca...he is trying every day to get this papr signed, he had to go to the headquarters in Sancti Spiritus, where they told him the paper will be signed, and his"director" refused again, so he is going back to Sancti Spiritus with a new paper that hopefully they will sign at headquarters. He was a security guard, so it is not like the professionals that they don't want to let out of Cuba fopr 5 years. This is very frustrating and he is about to speak to a lawyer down there. Once he gets this paper he was told that it will take about 30 days to get the Carta blanca. Does anyone else have similar problems? We are crazy now with frustration!----Karena
