I think it all depends on where you live. I'm in Boston where we have a semi-decent public transportation system and plenty of job opportunities available. Between that and the fact that we live on the ocean hubby has no desire to move.

I however would LOVE to move somewhere where the heat is dry, not humid, and the cost of living is much lower.

I just want to live somewhere where I have at least five acres of land around my house and a big electric fence. I want TiVo, and a home theater system, internet access, a cell phone, an great big art studio to do whatever I wanted, maybe two horses outback I feed and water and brush in the mornings, a flower garden with all kinds of roses, and a vegtable garden I take care of everyday, and some dogs and cats. I'd like lots of trees for shade and maybe a pond somewhere, and lots of wild natural green around, and peace and quiet where I don't ever have to see anyone, besides my Husband, if I don't want to.

:lol::lol:

Sounds perfect! Well... minus the cell phone... i wish i could get rid of mine!

Mine wants to move to NYC like that's the only place one can find oppurtunity in the US? Well see.

ha! :D

this might be a good opportunity to teach him the expression "the grass is always greener..."

just like every place else, NYC has great advantages, but great disadvantages as well... and i've lived here most of my life!

i think for us, both me and Habibi, agree that NYC (well... Brooklyn) is only temporary. i would love to move as soon as he gets a handle on the language and gets some work experience under his belt. if i had it my way, i'd like to try living in the Bay Area. i heard the grass is greener there... :P

Moving to FL or CA always comes up during the winter, for obvious reasons. But we really have never talked seriously about moving from this area. Housing costs are really our only serious complaint. But there are so many advantages to living in this area for us that it is worth it in the long run.

Someday..and this is someday when we have money. I want to move to Sun Valley, Idaho. Actaully the towns are called Hailey & Ketcham but it's known as Sun Valley for the world famous ski resort. I (L) love (L) it up there especially in the summer. That's where I'd like to have our land I talked about earlier. The winters will be very cold but all the more to keep us toasty and cuddly inside! :luv:

I can't even begin to tell you how many times my husband has wanted to move. NYC, Las Vegas, Florida, Spain, Italy, etc. I just can't get it through his head that no matter where you move it isn't like it is on the TV. I have a great job, great house, family, everything here. I made it clear before he got here that this is where I am staying for now. When he brings it up I let him know that he is more than welcome to go anywhere he likes, but I am staying. I would love to visit these places, yes, but to live, no. The future, who knows, but for now I am staying put. It may not be the best place, but there are a lot worse.

The other day my husband mentioned how he'd like to buy a nice apartment in Meknes and move there when I retire at age 60. Um...at age what?

My husband really wants to move back to Morocco once I am retired. Sad to say it is still a long way off. But as long as we have plenty of money for the luxuries I am used to, and of course to travel, I can't say I would object. Central air however is a must. I hate that I can't seem to learn the language though. He said I would have a lady working for us that takes me everywhere I need to go. To me that part sounds like prison, but how else would I get what I need if I can't master the language?

i find myself thinking about moving to Morocco a lot. it will be interesting to see how the economic climate changes in these next couple months...

M4ever, you would learn the language if you were immersed in it, and you'd be able to get yourself around. Maybe not write a dissertation in Arabic, but you'd be able to be out and about... Plus, if you know any French, that would be a huge help.

i understand what you are saying though... it can feel like a prison when you are in a place where you can't communicate yourself and your needs and your feelings correctly.

I am asking this question cause after talking to another VJ friend it appears there may be a trend toward MENA men after arrival like a place of their choosing. Anyone else experience that yet? Mine just told me that when he get's here we'll find someplace comfortable...... What?? I am comfortable???

lol... but I am cool with it. :star:

I think if you didnt own a house then be bopping around the us following someone who has NEVER lived here would seem attractive. But kids in school and sports? Family support? Familiar surroundings so you dont end up stuck someplace you cannot stand? I am sorry but I have issues with the American spouse picking up their entire way of life and changing it for someone who hasnt even lived here. I have had many conversations about this and alot has to do with the fact is that there are large quantities of Moroccans and Algerians in certain metropolitian areas like NYC BOSTON WASHINGTON DC and yes ORLANDO ( not Algerians) I think if we lived somewhere more metropolitan like Boston it would have been easier for my husband from the git go. But having problems with his adjustment, I am sure glad I am in familiar surroundings, especially pregnant. This would be a real horror show if we were some place unfamiliar to me and he was surrouned by people from his country isolating me even further. I have to disagree with this trend. I think it involves a whole lot of unnecessary sacrifice for the American wife. The guy should adapt to her home town and not pull her out of her surroundings... Unless of course she hates where she is and thats another story
