Race is STILL an issue today. Race will never not be an issue, regardless of amendments. You just proved it.

People segregate themselves by class, race, sports teams, leagues, whatever. Kinda funny how you're clearly jealous though of other races.

I go through each day without shame, without regret, but hopefully one day you'll get over your problem with other races.

How did I prove it? by asking why it is okay for someone black or Latino to promote their heritage. Yet racist if someone white was to, for example, bring out a magazine dedicated to Caucasians.

Kills me that BET and black essence or groups like La Raza is not racist. Yet mention white and you are automatically branded a racist. If you are Greek you know exactly what the word raza means.

As just mentioned, people will segregate themselves no matter what, by class, race, sports affiliation, whatever. The problem you have is because people are being treated in a special manner, no? You completely ignore it was white people who treated people different. You completely ignore it because you're still whining about it.

Whites aren't made to feel guilty about anything, you just choose to focus on race for a glaringly obvious jealousy. I'm actually American, and I've had this debate with my mom's side of the family from the south many times now. Race is your issue, and something you need to solve on your own.

If you have such a big issue, make a White History Month, even though you can't even suggest what the hell would go in a White History Month, or make a WET (rofl), White Entertainment Television, if you feel so inclined. I don't ever watch BET, and I don't care to. I don't celebrate Black History Month because I don't have to. But one thing I won't forget is there are plenty of people who are driven by a motive to protect their race from.. whatever. This is clearly your intent. By the way, what is seen as largely "white" holidays like Thanksgiving, or St. Patricks Day, everyone else celebrates.

Hopefully one day you'll grow out of this mindset. I doubt it though.

No this is about equality. If American is truly working towards being equal then race should no longer be an issue. This can never happen when race and history is always brought into the equation.

Treated people differently. It was the past let it go. You actually contradict yourself. On one hand you say whites are the ones who treated people differently. Yet in the next sentence you state whites are not made to feel guilty. #######..

dude has a point there.

celebrating being a red neck white american isn't something I'd particularly be proud to celebrate.

But white americans celebrating new years eve, valentines, 4th of july, halloween, christmas is kinda unique to us in how our culture does it compared to these other heritage groups. We don't exactally have our own song and dance but we do have our own folklore, granted it's not as old as say some countries folklore, but we have the wild west tales & the patriotic stories of the founding fathers.

Doesn't that go without saying that each culture celebrates within some sort of tradition? I don't understand what NY's eve, Valentine's, Halloween, or Christmas have to do with talking in the context of celebrating 'whiteness'.

Not so much as celebrating whiteness as much as the way it's celebrated by the whites in america vs. the hispanics from mexico, or the germans from germany, or the Norwegians in america who actually celebrate Christmas on Dec. 24th and not the 25th like we do here.

Can't that be amended to say 'Americans (not just white Americans mind you) celebrate this way, Mexicans/Germans/etc celebrate that way? And that really goes without saying, btw...

We could even split it up further to say 'people in the North tend to do this, South tends to do that, etc'

But again, I'm really at a loss to understanding what the major holidays hold in relation to 'whites in America' as a whole...

Well ok. I guess we could get into stereotyping that Americans as a whole on these holidays are all consumers and that is one way we all celebrate. However, the way that each family celebrates these holidays according to race or ethnicity or heritage is another sociological study. If reality TV ever saw the potential to branch off into these ethnicities, races, and heritages like we've seen with some of the prime time night shows then we might have some fine examples for those sociological studies.

Right, but you brought this up in context to someone saying something about celebrating white history iirc....these holidays you mention are not white specific, and that's my point.

There are a few ways you can use this to your advantage. If you are carpooling to an event or party you can always say “can we take your Prius? my car doesn’t get good mileage and I feel guilty driving it.” And bam! Free ride!

Also, if you see a white person in a Prius you can say “wow, that’s great to see that you’re doing something for the earth.” The white person will feel very good about themselves and offer to drive you home, to Ikea, or drop you off at 80s night.

Well, your target is BLACK women, of course it would be racist. If you said white women were whores it would be racist too because it's based upon race. Look, if you feel compelled to defend whites go right ahead. Most people understand that this is folly. I don't agree to celebrate my race to begin with, just like be overly patriotic and celebrate my country, or my gender, because these were things I never accomplished, but some people do. People are hypocrites about everything. Just because they're hypocrites doesn't mean you have to jump off the deep end and ###### about things like Black History Month which have a clear purpose, and declare meaningless things that you can't even figure out what to do with, like White History Month.

You live in a society that is still edgy about racism, and yes, racism is still a part of this country, even though there are no slaves. So do what the rest of us do and deal with it, rather than perpetuate the problem and whine about the things you don't have when there are plenty worse off than you in the U.S.

I would get one because I don't have to spend up the ### for gasoline and maintaining a car like I do ICE vehicles.

Instead, I'm waiting for FCVs and BEVs to almost entirely rid myself of the oil #######. It's only slightly about the environment because it's less emitting, but emission standards, especially here in California, are tightening so much there's little difference anymore.

Being white means to engage in a day in, day out struggle to prove that you are smarter than other white people. By the time they reach college, most white people are confronted with the fact that they may not be as smart as they imagined.

In coffee shops, bars, and classes white people will engage in conversations about authors and theorists that go nowhere as both parties start rattling off progressively more obscure people until eventually one side recognizes one and claims a victory. By the time they graduate (or a year or two afterwards), white people realize that they will need an edge to succeed in the cut-throat world of modern white society.

That edge is graduate school.

Though professional graduate schools like law and medicine are desirable, the true ivory tower of academia is most coveted as it imparts true, useless knowledge. The best subjects are English, History, Art History, Film, Gender Studies, <insert nation> Studies, Classics, Philosophy, Political Science, <insert European nation> Literature, and the ultimate: Comp Lit. MFA’s are also acceptable.

Returning to school is an opportunity to join an elite group of people who have a passion for learning that is so great they are willing to forgo low five-figure publishing and media jobs to follow their dreams of academic glory.

Being in graduate school satisfies many white requirements for happiness. They can believe they are helping the world, complain that the government/university doesn’t support them enough, claim they are poor, feel as though are getting smarter, act superior to other people, enjoy perpetual three day weekends, and sleep in every day of the week!

After acquiring a Masters Degree that will not increase their salary or hiring desirability, many white people will move on to a PhD program where they will go after their dream of becoming a professor. However, by their second year they usually wake up with a hangover and realize: “I’m going to spend six years in graduate school to make $35,000 and live in the middle of nowhere?”

After this crisis, a white person will follow one of two paths. The first involves dropping out and moving to New York, San Francisco or their original home town where they can resume the job that they left to attend graduate school.

At this point, they can feel superior to graduate school and say things like “A PhD is a testament to perseverance, not intelligence.” They can also impress their friends at parties by referencing Jacques Lacan or Slavoj Žižek in a conversation about American Idol.

The second path involves becoming a professor, moving to a small town and telling everyone how they are awful and uncultured.

It is important to understand that a graduate degree does not make someone smart, so do not feel intimidated. They may have read more, but in no way does that make them smarter, more competent, or more likable than you. The best thing you can do is to act impressed when a white person talks about critical theorists. This helps them reaffirm that what they learned in graduate school was important and that they are smarter than you. This makes white people easier to deal with when you get promoted ahead of them.

White person travelling can be broken into two categories - First World and Third World.

First world is Europe and Japan, and man, this travel is not only beloved but absolutely essential in their development as white people.

Every white person takes at least one trip to Europe between the ages of 17-29. During this time they are likely to wear a back pack, stay at a hostel, meet someone from Ireland/Sweden/Italy with whom they have a memorable experience, get drunk, see some old churches and ride a train.

What’s amazing is that all white people have pretty much the same experience, but all of them believe theirs to be the first of its kind. So much so that they return to North America with ideas of writing novels and screenplays about their experience.

Upon returning home, they will also find an affinity for a particular beer or liquor from a country they visited. They use this as an excuse to mention their travels when at a bar. “Oh, I’ll have a Czechznlishiyush Pilsner. You see, that was my favorite beer when I was travelling through Slovenia and the Czech republic.”

The second type of white person travel is Third World. This is when they venture to Thailand, Africa or South America. Some do it so that they can one up the white people who only go to Europe.

But like with Europe, white people like to believe they are the first white people to make this trip. As such, they should be recognized as special and important individuals.

That’s right, by going to a country, riding around on a bus or train, staying at a hotel or hostel and eating - they are doing something important for the world.

If a white person shows up in your country, you can make them feel fantastic by saying how you’ve never seen a white person before, and that you are amazed by their iPod - “a device that plays many songs? impossible!”

They might give it to you, then you can sell it for profit. Repeat as necessary.
