DS-230 help

Hello,

I have a few questions regarding DS-230 since I have no idea what to answer. Maybe I am repeating some questions, but I need clarification.

1)question 14 and spouse's address

We filed through DCF, husband has temporary residence in Bosnia, so which address should I put, Bosnian or US address?

2)the same is with Q29 in part 2, which address of the petitioner to put? We have a joint sponsor, and are planning to go back together to the USA.

3) just to confirm what I read elsewhere, Q21a is applicable only to people immigrating with me? If hubby and I go back together, I put "none"?

This address thing also confuses us in I-864 of my hubby. Is the mailing address his US address, and his residence address is Bosnian address, or should he put both addresses as US? I know this has to do something with domicile and proving it.

Question 3 - Yes, put none if it is just the two of you.

As far as addresses, I would put the US address. Because it is for going to the US. And you need to have the US address.

On 14, we put our address here in Ireland (as the petitioner needs to be resident in the consular district to do DCF).

On 21, I listed my husband and kids, put put (all US citizens) behind it. I think you might be meant to put none though... we got through anyway!

On 29, we put our new US address, as we only handed in part II of this form at the interview (which was 3 weeks after I posted the first part), together with the I-864, where we put him as resident in the USA for support purposes (as all our assets we based the I-864 on are US based too).

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Dear LA80,

What I did:

1)question 14 and spouse's address

---------> Put the Bosnian Address.

2)the same is with Q29 in part 2, which address of the petitioner to put? We have a joint sponsor, and are planning to go back together to the USA.

---------> Haven't gotten this far, not sure what I would put. I think I would just put the US address (but I need clarification on this???)

3) just to confirm what I read elsewhere, Q21a is applicable only to people immigrating with me? If hubby and I go back together, I put "none"?

---------> I have been told that this question is for those who are emigrating with the beneficiary, the same time or later.

As for the I-864 Form, Part 4 address questions, as I also had the same confusion:

Q.12 -- Put the Bosnian address as the mailing address since your hubby is there presently.

Q.13 -- Put the US address as place of residence since that's where you will be living in the US.

How long has your hubby been in Bosnia? I have been in China for 5 years without going back,

so I have to re-establish my domicile, that is live in the US. This is why I put my US address

as place of residence.

I hope this will help! Best of luck. :thumbs:

Thank you very much for the answers. :)

@valenbb

All is so confusing. We were told to have both parts for the interview, together with all other documents. :huh:

The most recent information that I have is that both the addresses (question 14 and 29) should be Bosnian, which brings us to the issue of domicile and your question.

My hubby has been here since November 2005 without going back and employment and any taxable income. He has a US mailing address, and residence permit in Bosnia till November 2008, which will clearly show that he has to go back. He was also mentioning something about registering vote overseas for the elections, and that it would also show his domicile, but I do not know much about this.

We planned to live with his mother and step-dad (our joint sponsor) until we manage.

That would be our little story. :D

Just to add to the question (21.a):

Accompanying: A type of visa in which family members travel with the principal applicant, (in immigrant visa cases, within six months of issuance of an immigrant visa to the principal applicant).

Link: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/gl...sary_1363.html

Thus, in answer to question (21a), the logical answer would have to be "NONE" since a USC don't need a visa to re-enter the US.
