The unopened brown envelope, the ex ray, the 1-94 he will fill out on the plane, and his passport.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

and from the vj guide: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=ssn

On the other hand, you should also not file for a SSN too soon either.

You should wait 2 weeks after you arrived in the US before applying for a SSN. If you go too soon your

record of arrival will not be in the SAVE-ASVI system yet, and it will require manual verification from the

USCIS.

You might be able to get a waiver on the SSN if your state normally requires it for the marriage license.

Make sure he knows your address. That will go on the I-94, and they may ask also.

2 weeks? I need the SSN for the Marriage License! We need to get married on Monday August 11 or else we can't be together until he gets his SSN! :( This had better not be the only way to get a marriage license!

Our state asked for the SSN, but we had it, so we didn't ask if it was mandatory. At least some states do waive the requirement. Some non-residents marry in the U.S. without immigrating, and they won't have a SSN. Best to call and ask on Monday.

I really hope I can get the SSN or get some sympathy from the court.

Can you drive to Toledo? Lucas County does not require a SS# form him, only his passport and I-94 from my understanding. So there may be hope!

Franklin County Municipal Court Civil Marriage Ceremony Information (614) 645-8162 I would call them and ask.

Here is the online application and it doesn't ask for the SSN.

http://www.franklincountyohio.gov/probate/...PBMLFORM1.shtml

It was asked for when I applied, but it was either SSN or I-94 number.

I don't know how I found the actual marriage laws for my state, but I printed them out and took them with me - good thing I did, or I wouldn't have been able to get married the day after he arrived ;)
