Brief history:

Arrived in the US from the UK in May.

My I-797 is pending and should be processed soon.

HOWEVER...I have just been offered a job in a school working with kids with learning difficulties.

My temporary EAD runs out in a few days and the I-797 won't be processed until after the start date of the new job.

How do I get my temporary EAD renewed while I wait for the permanent EAD to be processed?

If it´s a legit school, you should be able to sign a contract without a SS# and a background check. As long as those check out, you shouldn´t have any problems.

You can't. You'll have to wait for the EAD to be processed and approved.

I assume you mean I-765. I-797 is Notice of Action (NOA) that USCIS sends you when they receive and make a decision on an application.

I replied to your PM about this. You're basically going to have to wait. Once your temp EAD runs out, you're ineligible to work. It's not possible to renew or extend your temporary EAD, as you were only a K1 holder for 90 days following your arrival into the US. When those 90 days are up, you become an Adjustment Applicant (which is the category you applied for your new EAD under) and you'll have to wait for the EAD application under this category to be approved.

You can tell the school you'd like to take the job, but you would be unable to start the job until you get the card in hand. They may be understanding and hold the position open for you until you get the proper documents you need to complete the I-9.

This person will STILL need a valid EAD to work. The temporary EAD cannot be extended. BTW, a background check WILL be done. This is standard for anyone working in a position dealing with children. A legitimate school ALWAYS performs background checks. Every school I've taught at has done this.
