PB --- don't get down. I'm sure he is torn. Wants to see family and home he knows and misses you. Use the time to keep up your 4.0!

Peace!!!

Thanks - I'm sure he is.... he actually asked my permision and told me he wouldn't do it if I told him "no" But in all honesty I love him and I know his family is important to him. Again, I don't want him here if he doesn't want to be - which I told him after I wrote that post. Told him if he wasn't back before the 25th he would miss my school vacation entirely and he would be sleeping on the couch if he didn't come back before Ramadan, but ultimately it's up to him.

He said maby he will come back the day after his brother arrives (the 19th) but I don't know when he will really be here. I'm not going to believe him until he is at the airport

Awe PB I know how you feel. During the week that my Husband gets off from the military each month he spends the majority of his time with his family and friends and maybe talks to me for 1-2 hrs online if the connection is any good. At first I was upset about how little time we're getting now and how much time his friends and family are getting during that week. I was thinking they've had him for 29 years it's my time now that he's married. Then I realized how important family is to their culture and he has a lot of people that love him there that need him to share his time with plus he needs time for himself because in the military he isn't afforded personal time.

Now I just sulk most of the time and suck it in and march on with my life. If my Husband wants to contact me then he can contact me otherwise I try not to think about the non-existent marriage I have going on right now thanks to the Egyptian military.

I didn't realize how little you get to talk to your husband. That must be really hard. Is there any chance to go see him soon?

We discussed me going in Dec for my winter break to see him for a month but decided against it. He isn't able to verify he'd get the time off and if he disobeyed military orders to spend the time with me while I was there we know that he would be put into military prison when he went back to his service. That and the ticket prices have gone up far more than the first time I went to visit him. It didn't seem worth the risk. We choose to save the money for that ticket and apply it to when I go to Egypt after my college graduation in May. He is released from the Military the last week of April 2009 for certain now unless some crazy thing happens that prevents that. I graduate May 2009 and will be traveling to Egypt shortly afterwards.

In addition to the 1-2 hr talks online once a month if he can spare the time we do use the site www.twitter.com to send msgs to each other every few days. I send maybe twice what he does. He goes on the credit system with his cell phone so sometimes he can't recieve everything I send or send as much to me as we'd like. Since the military took him communication has really gone to a slow drip though. He does write me long letters while he's serviing and then mails them to me when he gets a break. It's just so strange going from talking everyday for 6-15 hours to talking to him 1-2 hrs a month with a few msgs here and there on the cell and some long letters I get in the mail. :(

Cleaning out the junk room which will be where his sister will get to sleep. This sucks! I did mount the Bedouin rug I've had for 3 years now on the wall though, and I feel like I accomplished SOMETHING. Why do I have so much freaking immigration #######?? I can't wait to toss it! As a random aside, I found my old chemistry goggles and am wearing them. Now I remember why I thought to myself I could never do a job that involved goggles but no water.

Oh yes I've been there cleaning my brothers attic.

goggles.jpg

Wow, that looks like a fun project!

Olivia, do you ever sleep? lol

LOL Olivia! I thought about taking a pic of my junk room jsut so that everyone would see I really DO have a junk room! ALl of my pics have always been so clean ebcause I clean before I take them :)

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Julianna,

What did you use to mount the rug? I have a very small Navaho rug I would like to hang, but not box fame it. Any suggestions?

My rug has such a loose weave, I used headless nails and just tacked it to the wall. Now. There is a kind of clear plastic clamp which you can use to clamp the top edge of a rug and then nail through THAT and not the rug-- that may be what you want. If you do want to go the quickie way though, jsut be sure to put in enough nails that you aren't ripping the wall as well as pulling the weave with too little support. When I get done (or maybe before lol) I can take a pic if you'd like.

So your husband agreed to let her sleep in her own room?

pffft, who knows. I've just started calling it his sister's room and telling him about how she's going to sleep in there! I've decided that's how it's giong to be lol. Now, the complicating factor is he wants to now apply for everyone at the same time (which to me looks like a mass-denial waiting to happen) so that if enough get it, they can just pay for their own tickets.

I thought you'd like my goggle wearing pix. :D It really helped as the dust and things came flying at me from the attic.

Yep! I think when I clean my attic I'll do something similar. I have enough goggles! LOL if it gets really dusty, I can put a piece of cloth over the blow-hold of my snorkle and wear that mask and snorkle and be all set!

I feel so bad for you. I can't imagine having communication slow down that much. It can't be easy. I hope maybe he can find a better way. It seems strange they don't have some kind of internet lounge or something for their soldiers. I guess with mandatory military service they don't have to make their soldiers happy like we do here, lol.

I'm the opposite except it is my bedroom. I've got to work on cleaning the closets a little better before my husband comes. Also, I have mounds of paperwork to sort through and credit card offers to destroy. I wish I would just file the paperwork away right when I'm done with it (or throw it away as need be) and shred the offers as they come in, but I don't. I always end up collecting them in piles for months and then spend a weekend sorting it all out.

Well on his last break, which was reduced to 48 hours from the original seven days, he says he got some cell phone service where he can chat online with me daily. However, when he got to whereever he was stationed in a tent in the desert the coverage wasn't working for chat but he can get on the internet. He says on his next break in about 3 weeks he will get it figured out. That's about the same time I go back up to school. Anyways I've lived with this for seven months and it hasn't been fun but it's what we have to do until this passes.
