Surely it seems this forum is not the right place for this question, but I am adjusting my status AND at the same time would like to invite my mother to visit with us from Colombia. Does anyone know what chances someone over 70 has of obtaining a visitor's visa?

I'd appreciate your comments/observations

Well I have the same quetion. My mother-in-law is in Pakistan. She applied for visitor visa because also my husbands brother is in NY and he is now a citizen. They denied her. I dont know why. We are trying to find out and she can re apply.

It won't be easy, but it all depends on what ties your mom can show to Colombia. For example if she owns a house there and has grandkids, she is more likely to get the visa.

Sucks! We want to bring my MIL and she's 77. No way could she go illegal even if she wanted to. We'd have her apply if there was any chance at all.

$131 is worth the try but the hassel of getting her to the embassy is another trip.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

The application fee is cheap compared to the cost of Travel Insurance .

And all the other costs.

Good point. Do you know or can you recommend a travel insurance company?

Not in Colombia, but I am sure there are many big names.

Age will be an issue.

As with any US Embassy, her chances are about 50/50. She will need to be ready for the interview and prove that she has strong ties in Colombia that will force her to go back. You can also send her a letter of invitation that she can present at the interview.

I also heard the embassador on Caracol Radio say that in the past they had only approved 10% of tourist visas in Colombia and that this year they started approving about 60% of the applicants, so that could be a good sign.

"Tourist visa for foks over 70"

That's an old fok!

:P

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
