So I totally stopped and took a step back from this thread. :P Never overweight, but was severely anorexic for most of my life & I feel that COE is simply the other extreme of the same disorder.

However, it's not as easy as "stop eating so much!"

1) Your stomach expands as you eat more. So a normal meal leaves an overweight person feeling hungry and unsatisfied.

2) Your body adjusts to the amount of calories that you consume. If this girl was to simply stop eating so much, she might die from starvation/malnutrition. Because her body depends on X amount of calories to do basic functions, and it's probably a lot more than your normal person's base metabolism. (For instance -- "base metabolism" for the average young adult female is around 1200 calories. However, mine dwindled down to 300 calories because I was consuming an average of 500 calories per day.)

3) On average, it takes around a year for your body's empty/hungry/full signals to become normal. This has both a psychological and a physiological component to it. Mostly, as someone who is drastically overweight or underweight, you spend most of your time ignoring your body's signals. Thus it becomes normal. For instance, during the worst of my anorexia, I never felt "normal" hunger. ie. stomach rumblings, etc. Instead, I would become extremely nauseated. Your body has to re-learn very simple things that most people take for granted.

"What is hunger?"

Most people ----) eat.

But some people associate hunger with different emotions. Hunger is anxiety, depression, sadness.

people handle grief in different ways..

emotional eating is a real thing...

Had she started taking drugs at a young age I have a feeling it would somehow be more acceptable...then she'd have a real problem, and it would be understandable. But as it is, she's just lazy and caused her own problems.

I don't really understand any addiction. I smoked for years because I really enjoyed it. When I finally had to admit that the cigs would eventually do me harm, I quit cold turkey. Yes it was hard and yes I still long for a cigarette but I value my health more. If you can't be bothered to make an attempt to curb your addiction, whatever that may be, then in my opinion you are lazy.

Good for you. Bravo!

You were also an adult. This is a child we are talking about.
