There should not be a pill for every ill but I like the idea of this, even though the science illudes me.

The gist of it would be that the drug acts on the ability of a transcription factor to "turn on" a gene of interest.

It does sound dodgy... What if this happens...

This is interesting. I get migraines a lot and when I take medication for them, vasocontriction occurs. That's great in terms of getting rid of the migraine, but it also means I shouldn't exercise until the medication wears off as well.

However, I could see some potential misuse of such a pill. Most people (myself included) despise exercising, so if we could swallow a pill to avoid it and it'd do the same thing for us, I'm sure many would opt for that instead. Especially considering how busy and fast-paced our lives have become. Taking a pill would require a second or two at most, whereas exercising uses up at least 30 minutes (if not a full hour) multiple times per week.

Although I can understand being skeptical I can also see the benefits. I used to be big into exercise and fitness. I LOVED high impact aerobics. But between the aerobics and dancing in high heels I have done some major damage to my foot. I broke 2 sesmoid bones, and these do not heal. I had to have them surgical removed. I now have permanent food damage. To look at me you would have no idea, but I am very limited on what I can do. So when I hear people say this is a pill for the lazy I get a bit offended. You really need to walk a mile in someone elses shoes before you judge.

I love exercising too and would love to be fitter than I am presently. At the moment, my asthma has prevented me from doing the amount of walking and hiking (my favourite exercise) that I would like therefore I haven't been as active. Humidity is rough for a severe asthmatic. Not only that, I had a wreck a few years ago that literally smashed my knees....so I have arthritis as a result. Not making excuses...just stating the fact. Walking and hiking are about the only forms of exercise I have left. So from the medical standpoint maybe this has some merit...I don't know.
