No.

Remember that the bank statement is optional. I brought proof that I had a bank account, when I opened it, and how much I deposited ONLY at the time it was opened (I had had problems getting a letter from Bank of America). But the CO didn't even look at it. Your annual salary is the most important, along with pay stubs, and a letter from your employer.

Good luck.

I also have a question to add to this thread.

Assuming I have no annual income and I must rely on my assets. I also have 2 other co-sponsors.

How recent must the bank statements be from the interview time? If i gave my fiance statements 7 months before the interview date, would they still be ok to show the VO?

You should start a new topic with a new question. ;) It will help others in your situation find the info they need.

All documentation presented at the interview should be as recent as possible. If you have a co-sponsor you should be all set but it has everything to do with the Consulate you will be dealing with. Because you are going through GUZ you're going to want to be sure you have all your t's crossed and your i's dotted. pushbrk will be able to help you with regards to China so hopefully he'll chime in here. You would do yourself good to visit www.candleforlove.com if you haven't already to familiarize yourself with the process there.

good luck.

I don't know what everyone else has said, but I walked into the bank an requested a letter from the bank itself with bank logo headings (official bank stationary) stating exactly wht the I-134 was requesting. In the beginning the refused to do this when I initially talked to a sales rep or banker because they have this process automated and this automated process did not include the total amount it was deposit for the whole last year. I should then the instructions for the form indicating that this is US government requirement, and not some odd idea coming out of the blue from the top of my head. Anyhow, someone finally agree to type the letter manually to include this information. Sometimes you need to do what you need to do.

I hope this will help you. I got just the letter, which was only what I needed. My fiancee's visa was approved with a 4 minute interview on May 15, 2008 because everything was in order.

Greetings cordially

Yes, this is definitely an entirely separate question. Please do ask it in a separate thread. The answer may or may not be simple depending on what kind of assets you'll be declaring. So please paint as clear a a financial picture as you can, when you post the question. Simply providing a seven month-old bank statement is unlikely to be sufficient because to do so is hardly reasonable. Financial information should be as current as logistically practical.

If your income is sufficient, you can simply leave blank all spaces referring to assets and skip any supporting documentation for assets. If you need to support assertions about assets, do the best you can to follow the instructions for a bank letter.
