'Tawag Ng Tanghalan' USA, beckons at the 23rd Phil-Am Expo '08

Preparations for the 23rd Philippine-American Exposition, Health Show & Home Show has started in earnest even as more and more businesses are confirming their participation in this, the longest-running and most prestigious trade expo that primarily caters to the sizeable Filipino consumer market in the Southland.

Slated on September 13 & 14, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, this two-day festival are fun-filled days of business networking, shopping, and entertainment. As in the past, hundreds of exhibitors of products and services are expected to offer special deals on the spot. Some exhibitors would even go as far as giving handsome giveaway sample items and products.

Notable highlights of this event are the Tawag ng Tanghalan-USA talent competitions, Philippines’ Best Singing Group exhibition, Little Miss Philippines-Universe and Miss Philippines-Universe beauty pageants, and Macy’s Fashion Model of the Year Search. Also, one of the top features in the expo is the recognition of the best and the brightest Fil-Am student achievers and outstanding Fil-Am community leaders.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan-USA, a singing talent competition that has launched many a successful careers of young Filipino-Americans, is now conducting daily auditions. To be considered, a contestant must be between 5-30 years of age, of Filipino-American descent, and a legal resident of the United States. Trophies and valuable prizes are at stake for the top three winners.

For the Little Miss Philippines-Universe, contestants must be 5-12 years old, Filipino-American descent, elementary or middle school student, and legally residing in the United States. Interested girls may send their resume and two recently-taken photos (black and white or color) to the California Examiner Publishing Co., Inc. 4515 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90041.

For the Ms. Philippines-Universe, contestants must be 15-29 years old, of Fil-Am descent, studying in high school or college, legally residing in the United States, single, never been married, and without children. The top three winners will trophies among other things.
