35-year-old charged with six counts of premeditated murder

AMMAN - The Criminal Court prosecution on Thursday concluded its investigation into the murder of five children and a woman in Abu Alanda in May and charged a 35-year-old man with six counts of premeditated murder and one count of rape, according to a senior judicial source.

“The charge sheet against the defendant is ready and his case will be referred to the Criminal Court soon for trial,” the judicial source told The Jordan Times.

Investigators questioned over 40 people in connection with the murder and concluded that the defendant murdered his neighbour after sexually assaulting her, the source added. According to a source close to the investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime earlier this year.

“The suspect entered his neighbour’s house around dawn to convince her to engage in a sexual relationship with him but she refused so he raped then killed her, then stabbed her two children to death because they saw everything,” the source added.

When he returned home, the suspect decided to murder his three children as well since “he might end up being executed and did not want to leave them alone”, according to the source.

“The suspect said he was living a miserable life and hated everyone around him because nobody cared about him or his children, so he decided to kill them so they would not end up living alone after his imprisonment or possible execution,” the source previously told The Jordan Times.

Quoting the charge sheet, the source said the defendant’s children begged for their lives as they were being stabbed, and one of them asked: “Daddy, why are you doing this to me? You know I love you very much”.

The suspect then left the area and went into hiding in a deserted house near a highway until he was arrested by authorities.

There are things like this, but they don't usually make news. I've also noticed a discrepancy between Jordan Times and Alrai as to what they report on-- this kind of thing doesn't make Arabic news as often as English. I wonder why?

Two words....Rana Husseini. She's a great reporter for Jordan Times. She reports on ALL the domestic violence crimes....aka honor crimes.

Yes, I noticed that. She is always posting honor crimes, none of which make Arabic news, and then you hear all the epople who stick to only something like Alrai claiming there are no such things as honor killings in Jordan. Amazing!
