Hi everybody,

Last time that I was having problems and posted my questions, I recieved a lot of help from everyone on these forums, so I am hoping that you all can help me again!!!

My fiance arrived 2 weeks ago, just in time for our wedding on August 9th. Needless to say, we are both ecstatic! but of course, now we have to worry about getting our Adjustment of status packet in order, and I am running into a few things that are not clear. If you can help, please don;t hesitate to reply.

First, we are filing for the EAD with our I-485. It says something about including passport style photos weith that application. Are these in addition to the 2 photos that are to be sent with the G-325A packet, or will that cover it? also, is there a seperate filing fee for any of the documents that are part of the AOS packet, or does $1,010 cover everything?

Secondly, as far as the form I-693A goes, my fiance was not given that form at her medical screening in Germany. Is there any way to get that here in Ohio because that is the one thing that is in the required documents list that we absolutley do not have!!!!

Finally, we were wondering what the fastest way to get a certified copy of our marriage certificate would be and also if a translation of a birth certificate into English by a Ph.D. head of modern languages at a community college will suffice for USCIS?

Any input would be greatly appriciated, and I thank you for your time.

Zeb

P.S. Does anyone have any idea how long the advance parole will take to process. My fiancee was hoping to return home for Christmas to visit her family, and we are concerned that it may not be processed in time, as she cannot leave the country and re-enter without it. Thanks again.

1010 cover everything

6 passport photo total are needed

I693A is not in use anymore...got replaced by I693 (revision june 08) you will need her vaccination sheet (if he doesn't have it) at least all the paper recording that he had such and such vaccine with the dates.

the mariage certificate varies with states, they each have different rules. Some can give it to you right away, some you will need to wait for a week or 2.

AP is about 3 months to get once you send everything

Note : you file for AP, EAD, AOS all together (1010$ for everything)

Note :

On the new I693, you will see that K1 folks do not need to have a full medical again

BUT

most of the doctors will want to conduct a full medical all over again (and charge you for it)

call all doctors in your area and ask for the price of extra vaccine if needed... price have a crazy range (For a full medical i found from 99 to almost 400)

Thank you for the information about the filing fee and passport photos. I am still uncertain about the medical form. she had her exam done while still in Germany, and she is here is Ohio now. So how can we get the required documentation at this point? Are they maybe certain doctors that we could go to with her shot record or something of that nature? Thanks again!

Hi! I have my medical examination done in the philippines on March 2008. Ive never seen the result because its between the Saint Lukes Medical Center and the US embassy in the philippines, its just the VACCINATION WORKSHEET that they gave me. And when my visa packet (RESULT OF MEDICAL EXAM WAS INSIDE HERE TOO) was sent to me it was sealed and so I handled it tothe Custom officer upon my entry at LAX. So the medical examination done during the K-1 visa will not be sent to us(FOR US TO SEE) . Anyways, what I'm saying is she handled it to the customs officer upon her entry here in the US. And as melusine said K1 holders doesnt need to have full medical done provided that its within 1 year of AOS application. Good luck

any immunizations not completed for the US needs to be completed and entered into the system, you can have this done at any county health clinic for cheaper than a doctors office. I was also informed while at the health clinic that if we can get a copy of the previous immunizations they will enter it into the system at no charge. They said a faxed copy is fine if it has the number of the originating country will be approved.

Hope this helps some.

PS the immunization and medical records are supposed to be forwarded to the USCIS office but many times they are lost, it would not hurt to ask for that to be faxed or emailed also... I just try to cover the bases so I dont have a problem.

-$1010 fee includes AOS, EAD (optional), and AP (optional).

-2 photos each for AOS, EAD, and AP (No photos for form 325, that's for k-1 petition)

-make sure you include supporting documents for each form, even if you have to repeat them (you need copies of front/back I-94 for all forms). Even though you send them together, they are separate applications.

-if medical done within 1 year, take the VACCINATION WORKSHEET, and go to USCIS approved "civil surgeon" and have them just copy the information from the worksheet to the I-693 (section 2 vaccinations and have them sign part 5). That's it.

Keep in mind, most civil surgeons will try to convince you that you need a full medical, bloodwork, etc etc again. They are just trying to make more money off you. Don't listen to them. The I-693 instructions CLEARLY say that k-1 visa holders do not need a full exam if done within 1 year.

Thanks to all of you so much who replied and helped. Its good to know that we can get that done here at the county health board. I will be sure and get those photos as well. Take care to all.

I completely agree that some will try to get you to redo the whole medical.... this is NOT necessary if you came in on a K-1. I paid $25 to have mine transcribed locally. The directions clearly state that this does not need to be done. I called around... and prices did vary wildly amongst doctors for this.

Be careful that you have the I-693 actually filled in by a Civil Surgeon... not just any random doctor can transcribe the info for you.

The following link was INVALUABLE to me to figure out what the heck was going on with the I-693. We DO indeed have to submit the I-693, part 1 (Information about you) and part 2, #5 (vaccination section) completed for K-1 visa holders. Please read Section 3, Frequently Asked Questions, #2 for clarification.

These forms were revised on 06/05/08. New info. Directions to the new I-693 link below.

Here's the form itself.
