My wife went to the DFA today to have her passport changed to her new married name. They said she has to go to Manila for the CFO seminar before her passport can be reissued with the amendmendment of her married name.

Are they correct in this requirement of CFO because I thought it was only for fiancees?

yes, that is right! i had my CFO seminar too before i was able to renew my passport (to change my surname after i got married). that seminar is required to all filipinas that are married to foreigners and will leave the country and btw, CFO seminar is not only for fiancees :)

yes. you have to attend the seminar before she can leave for the US.it is required. you can either do the seminar now, or after she receives her visa. she can use her maiden name passport in the petition process. anyway, you have your marriage certificate to prove that you are married.

:whistle::thumbs: CFO is for any Filipino over the age of 12 yrs old leaving the Philippines. That is the rules, so they can get money from you.

CFO IS FOR NON-IMMIGRANTS AND IMMIGRANTS.I BELIEVE CFO IS REQUIRED FOR ANY TYPE OF VISA .

FOR THE PASSPORT TO GET AMMENDED BY THE DFA THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED:

- PHP 150.00 FEE

- ORIGINAL COPY OF CFO CERTIFICATE FROM CFO OFFICE (THE GREEN ONE)

-***I DID NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL COPY OF GREEN ONE, I TALKED TO THE OFFICER FROM THE DFA TO PLEASE ACCEPT THE SCANNED COPY. I WAS GRANTED.

***THEY DO NOT GET THE ORIGINAL COPY OF GREEN CERTIFICATE FROM CFO ANYWAY THEY JUST LOOK AT IT AND GET THE XEROX COPY.

- ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE W/ NSO AUTHENTICATION

- XEROX COPY OF MARRIAGE CERT W/ NSO AUTHERTICATION

- ORIGINAL PASSPORT TO BE SUBMITTED.

AFTER 3=7 DAYS IT WILL BE AMMENDED.

YOUR SPOUSE/FIANCE MUST ATTEND CFO FIRST SO SHE CAN ACCOMPLISH THE PASSPORT AMMENDMENT PROCESS.
