Extremely bizarre and sad case

I am posting this for a family friend who is going through a very strange and difficult situation. This woman recently came over on a K-1 visa and married her US citizen fiance. They have been living together for a few months and his true character has just now been revealed. As crazy as this story sounds, we know this girl and her family and very much doubt that she is making this up.

It turns out that the husband(petitioner) is a supposedly "reformed" homosexual. He is 56 and had never been married before. He had never told her about this during their long engagement because he had "changed". Now the guy is up to his old antics. She found some incriminating photos and bookmarks on his PC. She even found a profile on a gay dating site. Now that she knows about it, the guy is becoming abusive and is trying to get her to participate in group sex activities. She has had to call the police on him because he threatened her when she told him that she refused.

This girl quit her job in her country to come and marry this guy. She is probably going to go back to her country. However, if she doesn't go back, does she have any real options for staying? I know that abused women have some options, but I don't think that he has actually physically abused her.

This whole thing just pisses me off. Why would this idiot put this girl through all this when he knew very well that he is gay? I don't have anything against gay people, but he shouldn't have pursued this woman.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hmm, well that's a dicey situation.

In the eyes of the government, she doesn't really have many options unless he's abusive to her and there's a record of that.

As for the bona fides of their marriage for her green card, that is a whoooole different issue.

wow..this is a sad and bizarre story... I think you should call and ask for some advice from the Legal Aid Society..just look up the number in yellow pages

I heard of a friend in a similar situation. That person found out just a few weeks prior to the AOS interview. She decided she had nothing to lose, went alone and told her story, took evidence and was granted Permanent Residency.

She entered into the marriage in good faith. If she divorces him, she has every right to continue with her AOS application and get a green card if that's what she wants.

I know that abused women have some options, but I don't think that he has actually physically abused her.

Mental abuse or even the threat of physical abuse is just as bad if not worse than the action itself.
