Starting DCF process

Hi everyone! Im starting the visa process. After reading the info in this site I know that DCF is the best for me. Right now I am just trying to figure out when would be the best time to apply. Silly question, right? Well, its because I want my significant other to visit me for 2 weeks in the U.S. with a B2 visa for our bridal shower, which is only 6 weeks after we would be filing the I130 for DCF. Meaning, he would be in immigration process. I posted about this in the IR1 forum.

From reading some posts I understand it is possible to file I130 AND have the interview the same day..? I believe someone from Australia did this. That would be ideal. However, we would be getting married just days before filing the I130 so it may not be possible in our case (I will be visiting him, getting married and filing I130 DCF all in one week).

So, I might wait until after his visit to the states to go there again for a visit, marry, and file the I130 then. That way he wont have a wife when filing for his B2 and entering the U.S. (less complications)

Another thing Im thinking about is that he may actually have his interview and get his immigration visa within the 6 weeks after filing. Then a B2 would not be necessary.

So I actually dont have a question to post. I am just mulling over some things and thought I would post them here and see if anyone has any insight. If not, I wish everyone luck in this process. As I look into this more Im sure I will be posting to this board.

I think this all depends on what country you are talking about. Australia is a unique situation

nina,

I thought I saw you pst elsewhere that this is for Poland, is that right?

Why not just contact the US Consulate's IV Unit and ask them.. I actually think that their timeline is pretty quick for DCF.

They might have a comment on the rest of your plans, but I'd expect to get the brushoff... they don't 'do' visa advice over the phone too much.
