I love my wifey's accent when she speaks English. She does pretty much everything that's been described here of Spanish speakers. I hope she doesn't lose the accent as she becomes more fluent. It always gets me in the mood when she speaks English.

Yes, my wife also cannot say the "th" sound. And many of the other things said here with the latin speakers. She also has a habit of pronouncing the silent "e" at the end of words.

I crack up everytime she tries to say "unbelievable". --unbelebabal

She only says it to crack me up. But then again, she laughs at me when I say "afuera"(outside). There are many sounds I can't get right in spanish.

But I am the same as SKTEAMO, I hope it doesn't change that much.

About the hardest part for me is following who she is talking about because she often uses 'he' for 'she', totally confusing me. I think in Bisaya, they don't have a masculine or feminine pronoun for 'she' or 'he.' We have a friend who immigrated from the Philippines almost 20 years ago - a nurse...and she does the same thing.

There's some pretty good software programs that can help with pronunciation. IMO, I think it is important to try and pronunciate as accurately as possible to avoid people from misunderstanding what's being said.

like = leek

go = gan (most of the time)

my = me (most of the time)

I don't understand geordie speak at all. I can understand him but if you put another geordie in front of me there's a 99% chance I won't have a clue what they're saying to me. I think this "translator" into geordie is hilarious http://www.whoohoo.co.uk/geordie-translator.asp

i also do the ED in the end of words like booked, planted, licked, I pronounce like lee keeed

The only time you pronounce the "id" sound at the end is when the word ends in a d or to. For example:

want (ed)

visit (ed)

list (ed)

need (ed)

Most of the time you prounced the "ed" like d....though you have the "t" sound too...

looked

splashed

talked

walked

etc...

In Hindi, tomorrow and yesterday are the same word. How you use it in the sentence lets the person know if you mean yesterday or tomorrow. So Sujeet said he used to really struggle with that. He seems to have got it down now.

the best way to improve is by listening, either on tv or other people and learning. I learned a lot of pronounciation by either saying it wrong and having people saying it correctly, or by listening to other people or tv, or music, or internet.

I say a lot of A like I'd say in Brazil, instead of the way they say here. But it's beacuse I'm not really paying attention on what I'm saying. I'm sure latin people can understand what I'm talking about. Like yesterday I said Matrix, like Mah treex, instead of Mae trix
