Hi everyone,

Congratulations to everyone who got their EADs and approved ones! I, too, am so eager to work . I might die of boredom.

I got a letter from USCIS today- Request for Applicant to Appear for Initial Interview...now this got me confused. I havent received my EAD and AP yet and I got this, and it says INITIAL interview. Is it normal to get the interview appointment first before the EAD and AP? And is this letter the "one" interview some of us are waiting for? It just sounds to me like I will have a series of it cause of the word initial.

Hope someone can help with it. Thanks.

Jen

Hi Jen,

My cousin had her interview before EAD and AP...she also received her greencard a few weeks after the interview. Praying you have the same results.

Congrats. I think that's how they usually refer to the first interview, because some people are sometimes asked to go for 2nd interviews. Otherwise you shouldn't worry about the term 'Initial'. And wow, you are lucky July and even some June filers havent recieved their ILs yet. what is your local DO?

Jen,

I think you might be one of rare case where they approve GC before EAD. A really good friend of mine had that happen to her husband. He got the interview before work permit and everything. However, unfortunately they didn't approve right away because his FBI check wasn't back yet.

You can always give them a call and ask, it doesn't hurt.

Be positive about it.

Let us know what happens.

Thanks everyone for the infos. I hope it really is a good news for me, I think I deserve some (after all the nice home cooked meals i serve my family everyday  ). I will try calling them too tomorrow and hopefully learn about my EAD and AP. That is really weird to get GC first, the EAD wont make sense at all if it happens.

Let you know guys what happens next, the interview is set on Dec 09 at 1pm.

Most of them are chicks and gays, just a couple of straight guys. It's alright nothing too fancy or to go crazy about. I'm looking more into my area but int he mean time the cash pays bills.

Yeah I took to the orientation my EAD and my passport and the letter the SSN office gave me. It says that you applied and you can work while you wait for your card.

Orientation: you watch a video about GAP, employee rules, Gap Policies, dress code and thats pretty much it. You get paid for the 2.5 hour orientation in your paycheck: they pay bi-weekly.

Expect to work early in the morning and until closing time (11 pm). Sometimes, next week I have to shifts until closing time.

Hmmm, my EAD got touched again today, why?

It happened to me also. I got the card on the 14th and the date the card was issued was the 1st.

Don't let the choices chose you, chose the choices that you want.

GFL - We're looking to move next year sometime to a different State - we'll have to get jobs there and rent first to save for a mortgage but I can't wait to get our own place instead of renting - I just think it is going to take a while :(

Girl, CA is sooooo expensive! My husband and I went broke while we were there. It's crazy. Everything is so much more expensive for you guys .. from food to gas .. rent.. Everything! I don't blame you for thinking about moving. Are you coming to the east coast?

We're looking at Colorado - we are going there for a few days next week so I am pretty excited about that - it is somewhere that Jeremy has always wanted to live and neither of us have ever been there so we figured it might be worth checking out - if we love it then it looks like a sure thing ;) We wanted somewhere with four seasons (hot summer, snowy winters, changing leaves at fall etc...) and that had little or no natural disasters as living on the San Andreas fault (southern part  ) doesn't fill me with joy!!!

Yeah, I grew up in Upstate New York (blisteringly hot, humid summers with bitterly cold winters and snow measurable in feet, not inches) and I moved to Arizona to get away from it! After 12 blissful seasonless years in Arizona, California, and Washington State, I moved to the Midwest for work, and it still feels like my life is that episode of the Twighlight Zone where the earth is moving closer and closer to the sun and getting hotter and hotter and hotter until the end, where you find out it was all the lead character's dream and the earth is really moving away from the sun and getting colder and colder and colder.

Colorado is awfully beautiful, though, and you'll surely be able to afford a much nicer home there than in California. That is why I left California also.

Oh I love Arizona as well - and you can get four seasons there too - Flagstaff for example has over 100 inches of snowfall a year :) I love Sedona - it's where we got married and it is just so beautiful :)

Don't you find that places which are cheaper to live in pay less for jobs?
