Do you want the good news or the not-so-good news?

We will start with the good news-Got the Biometrics letter today. Scheduled for Sept 4, so not too bad.

Not as good news-Got a letter from the Social Security Office (after almost 9 weeks of processing....yes, we filed for the card on June 20), that they would not be able to process my husbands request for a Social Security Card because his I-94 would be expired by the time they got to it. So, I guess we will be waiting until EAD to try applying again. I really hope that it does not take as long to get around to processing it...As I understand it he will not be able to work unitl he has both EAD AND SSN (is that correct??)

 It's ok! I forgive you!!! I am just glad I checked again as I actually listened to you :bonk::lol: It's fine though - We are looking at filing it tomorrow so I just made Jeremy change the check :D Pretty funny though  Of course, had we already sent it, I might not have found it all so funny :lol:

That really sucks! Why is it taking so long? You did wait two weeks after POE didn't you? I know if they do things manually it can take a lot longer - I made sure to mention when I applied for mine that if I wasn't in the system that I would come back...

On that note though, we got my bank account and SSC put into my married name yesterday and also got me on Jeremy's insurance through work as well - it was all so easy I felt like we were missing something - in fact the clerk at the bank had to actually confirm it was all ok and we were good to go!! I guess all the USCIS paperwork just makes me feel like everything should be as long-winded and complicated

Glad to see this thread picking up anyway - am used to the July 2007 K-1 crowd and we were/are a rowdy bunch ;)

We originally tried to apply for the Social Security Card two weeks after my husband entered the country. At that time we realized that he had entered the country without an I-94, and no one had caught it! It actually was not as bad as we expected to be as we were able to have the Immigration Officers at the airport confirm his entry and simple make him an I-94. After only a week or two after the first visit to SSO we returned and applied again. I have no idea when it took almost 9 weeks. Since then we have gotten married, moved, and I also applied for a new SSC due to change in name (at a different SSO). When I told them about the situation they were like "Oh, you applied at XXX office for your husband? They are so slow". If only we had known.....

We also had problems at the SSN office so I made serveral trips in person. Calling did no good. First they told me that DHS has no record of him entering the United States, I said really, so how did we get this stamp and the I-94. They told us to come back a week later. Called USCIS and DOS to let them know what we were told at the SSN office and they told me to go back up there because they don't know what they're talking about. We went back and she was unable to pull up his name...THEY HAD HIS LAST NAME spelt wrong in their system. She said she'll correct it and he'll get the card in a week. Finally, we get the card and his name is STILL spelt wrong...EDIOTS, so another trip to the office to have it corrected.

Serenity now...serenity now.

Submitted Aug 8th, received Aug 11th.

Hopefully I will not get a RFE for the medical exam, wife had complete medical + vaccinations done in home country and customs/immgration at the airport took the only copy we had (inside brown envelope).
