We filed end of August 2008 and had the interview yesterday. Thought some might like to know how it went. So we drove 3 hours to the interview that was for 11am we waited an hour and 1/2 after 11 to be interviewed. Once we got in the room and were reunited with our HUGE box of evidence (they took it at the door) the lady said "Ok show me whatever you are going to show me" I thought "great she's gonna be trouble" and started shaking and drew a blank about what to show her. Once I pulled out our joint bank statements, joint savings account, some envelopes etc and handed them to her I pointed to our 2 photo albums (Over 500 pics) and said "well we have a couple of pictures if you want to look" she giggled and become quite relaxed and joked back with us. She asked mostly questions about our forms (verified address, birthdates, parents names, place of birth for me and my wife, all the info we filled out on our forms). She did ask how we met and what our process was like to get to the interview today. She flipped through our photo albums asking questions as she went like "who is this?" "What is happening here?" She saw our wedding photos and asked where it took place, where my wife got the three dresses, who witnessed it, things like that. I think what helped her decide was when she saw that my wife's Mom came to Morocco to visit me and all the things she did with us there (including and engagement party for her and her fiancee). The interviewer seemed fascinated by this and asked a lot of questions about it. As a whole it was very light hearted, laughing and joking. She looked through our forms one more time checking things off, making notations and then closed it and said "Well you are approved as of right now and will get your greencard in the mail in 7 to 10 days"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God we can finally relax!! This has been a looooooooooooooonggggg road! We wish everyone still waiting the best of luck and hope it will go quickly and smoothly.

Yep, I'm gonna be a December 2010 Removal of Conditions filer too :) I'm sure it will get here faster than we can ever imagine.

Me too. I was a little late to this thread sometime in December but it quickly became my number one source of support and a place to vent my spleen at USCIS . I can't help but get a bit misty-eyed at the thought of the thread dying away :)

Thank you guys, you were a great help :)

Just received an email the our case got RFE'd. I won't know what they want until I get the letter in the mail. I wonder why it took so damn long to give us an RFE?

06-29-09 received GC in mail

4-18-11 mailed I-751 CSC

CIS Office : California Service Center

Date Filed : 2011-04-18

NOA Date Received : 2011-06-06

Date on NOA: 2011-04-22

Bio. Appt. : 2011-06-24

Had to make an Info Pass appointment because there was a delay in receiving the NOA for our I-751. Never found out the reason for the delay but they gave Thao a 1 year green card stamp in her passport and we got a the NOA 2 days later.

Bollocks :(

On the plus side you obviously came to the top of the pile so if you return it quickly, you shouldn't have to wait much longer... Hopefully it's for something nice and simple to deal with :)

What a drag :protest:

The good news is that they have a pretty quick turnaround once you send in what they want.

Hang in there :)

Yeah, it is ridiculous that they've taken this long to get to it, but as others have said, once they get your response back, your approval should come very soon.

We received the RFE today. The reason for the delay was that Thao's fingerprints were rejected again and they could not complete a background check. We did the finger prints twice in September because the first attempt didn't take. So they waited until now to tell us the second set didn't work either??!!? We have to go to the local police to get a statement that she has a clean record and send it in by June 1. Hopefully this phase of the journey will be over soon.

Thanks to everyone!

  • 2 weeks later...

I am bumping this so people can find it.

Dave_Thao, I think they did not send the RFE sooner because they did not look in your file sooner. Which, yes, really is a little ridiculous.
